General Information

Extra academic activities are a special feature of FOM and can be divided into two groups. The first group is co-curricular activities that complement the formal learning experiences in a course. The majority of FOM courses have add-on co-curricular activities such as academic seminars, practical experience sharing workshops, and competitions with the aim of strengthen the classroom learning, connect theoretical knowledge with current marketing practices and develop professional skills .

The second group includes off-campus activities that promote engagement with community, develop essential life skills and allow students to make an impact (extra-

curricular activities). Freshmen are always welcomed through activities related to career orientation and connecting with senior students. Annually, FOM organizes at least one field trip to an enterprise. For instance, field trips to three five-star resorts in Danang in 2017 and the tourism complex – Hoi An Impression Theme Park in 2018 significantly enhanced students’ practical experience and knowledge about hospitality marketing. Additionally, a faculty-wide football tournament is held every year to strengthen the solidarity and sportsmanship among FOM students. Besides, other community service activities help to raise students' awareness of emerging social and community issues. FOM has organized and co-organized a variety of activities related to environment, road traffic safety, and charity fundraising (Winter Volunteer Campaign led by Faculty Youth Union). For example, as a response to the movement of environment cleansing, FOM students launched a campaign to clean the roads after Danang International Fireworks Festival 2019 performances. Other activities included wildlife conservation in Son-Tra Peninsula or construction of street lights and public toilets in remote and rural areas.

FOM also encourages students to give feedback on extra-curricular activities and services. Comments and recommendations are synthesized and analyzed so that FOM can improve the quality of activities. For instance, Fashion Show has been gradually upgraded to a larger scale event over the years that attract hundreds of viewers.

Clubs and Youth Union

Students can become a member of student clubs and bodies of Youth Union to enhance social skills, make new friends and improve transferable skills. Clubs recruit new members on a frequent basis each year. These clubs operate independently and students can follow their events and activities through their online sites. During the enrollment week, DUE also set up circles for clubs to introduce themselves and recruit new members. DUE currently has 12 clubs engaged in academic activities, social activities, sports, arts, start-up and English. Particularly, FOM is the founder and advisor of two clubs – “DUE Marketer” and “English Club E-Plus”. Moreover, the chairman of C-RES – a club with the highest number of members in DUE and several executive members of other clubs are FOM students. The Youth Union of FOM also organizes plenty of volunteer and sporting events and assists with FOM’s important events. Several remarkable events held by FOM Youth Union include Marketing Football League, Winter Volunteer Campaign, National Teachers’ Day and Camping Trip. Also, FOM has a Media and Communication Team gathering students interested in communications and public relation and in charge of promotional activities for FOM.
