Comprehensive Cooperation With Cork Institute Of Technology (Ireland)

From chance to cooperation achievements

University of Economics - University of Danang (UE-UD) and CORK Institute of Technology (CIT - Ireland), two schools located on two continents meet and cooperate in a meeting at the Conference international education held in London in September 2015. After a conversation between Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh - Vice Rector of the University of Economics and Ms. Orla Flynn - Vice President of External Relations of CIT, both universities found consensus in their mission, educational development orientation and international network expansion.

With the support of the VIBE project (Bilateral Cooperation in Education between Vietnam and Ireland), in 2016, the two partners immediately shook hands to organize an impressive start-up competition, creating a strong impact for the movement of starting a business among students of Da Nang in general and students of the University of Economics in particular: Da Nang Startup Runway contest.

The University of Economics is proud to be a pioneer that brings a playing and learning environment about the startup, workshop, coaching, meeting the mentor ..., put three students representing the three best projects. Comprehensive association

Within the framework of cooperation between the two schools, in the last mid-May, the delegation of the University of Economics includes: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh - Vice Principal of the School; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Lan Huong - Head of Marketing Department; Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Thu - Head of Department of Human Resource Management, Business Administration Department; Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh - Head of Department of Testing and Quality Assurance have visited and worked at the CIT in the warm welcome of the partner. The parties discussed many important contents to tighten and expand the cooperation links in the extensive and comprehensive direction.

Accordingly, the University of Economics will implement the 2+2 and 3+1 transition programs with CIT with majors: Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Finance, Tourism Management. This is an opportunity for students of these disciplines to access the advanced learning environment in Ireland and get a diploma from CIT. The two partners will soon promote the connection of the curriculum framework to bring new opportunities to UE-UD students. In the framework of cooperation, in addition to the two sides exchanging lecturers and staff in research and academic fields, CIT and UE-UD also promote short-term student exchange under the support of Erasmus+. In the field of scientific research, CIT and UE-UD will co-organize an International Conference on Marketing in October 2018, and lecturers from both sides will cooperate in the field of research on Supply Chain Management. With the support of the Erasmus+, both partners will join hands on the University Governance and Quality Assurance project. Through this project, CIT will coordinate with UE-UD to organize modern management experience sharing sessions, which is a practical project, especially at a time when UE-UD has moved towards financial autonomy. In addition, the University also invites young CIT researchers to participate in the International Conference for Young Researcher in Economics and Business (ICYREB 2017).

Promising future

Following the success of 2016, currently, both Universities are coordinating to organize the Da Nang Startup Runway 2017 competition with the participation of a series of new and creative ideas of Da Nang students. Experts from CIT have come to meet and coach the teams through useful workshops on entrepreneurship knowledge, helping the teams form and perfect their ideas to be ready to shine in the final round.

On June 17, representatives from Rubicon - CIT's famous startup incubation center will participate in the final round of Da Nang Startup Runway as judges. With enthusiasm and professional knowledge, they will work with the official jury of the final round to find the best individuals to award prizes as well as welcome the competing teams to train at CIT. It is anticipated that in August, besides the three representatives of the three high-winning teams of the Start Up Contest 2017 will come to practice at CIT's Robincon Incubation Center, two students from the University of Economics will have a desirable experience trip at CIT in a one-semester exchange program funded by the Erasmus+ project. CIT will also send students to participate in the summer semester program at the University of Economics to interact with Da Nang students and discover interesting cultural features of Vietnam. From the initial chance, the bilateral cooperation between UE-UD and CIT has made more and more positive steps, the cooperation between the two partners not only helps the startup ideas among students be inspired but also help them to acquire practical knowledge according to world trends. Also, the cooperation   opens up new opportunities for UE-UD students to participate in transfer study abroad in Ireland, to interact with lecturers from CIT right in Da Nang. In the near future, the leaders of the faculties of the University of Economics will continue to visit and work at CIT to discuss intensive cooperation programs and promote upcoming long-term projects, promising that the bilateral relationship will continue to be close and take further steps in the future.
