ICOAF WILL BE ONE OF THE LARGEST FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING CONFERENCES IN SOUTHEAST ASIA.

The International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICOAF) 2022 was officially opened today (June 10, 2022) by the University of Economics - University of Danang in collaboration with the Institute for Global Financial Studies at the University of New South Wales, Australia and Aston University, UK.

Due to the lingering impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, ICOAF 2022 adopted a hybrid format with 70 experts and scholars from prestigious domestic and international universities participating both in-person and online.

This year, the conference received 65 papers from domestic and international academics, including many highly reputable scholars in finance and accounting. The organizing committee, comprising eminent domestic and international experts, selected 35 research projects to be presented at the conference.

ICOAF 2022 provides a valuable opportunity for academics from Vietnamese and international universities to share ideas and receive scholarly feedback and critique, thereby increasing the chances of their papers being published in ISI and SCOPUS indexed journals.

“ICOAF 2022 also holds profound meaning in terms of forming and nurturing a global network of finance and accounting researchers in Vietnam, while strengthening and promoting research cooperation on finance and accounting in Vietnam,” said a representative of the organizing committee.

With the vision of soon becoming a research-oriented university, University of Economics – The University of Danang and its co-organizing partners also emphasized their determination to "strive to make ICOAF an annual flagship conference on finance and accounting in Southeast Asia in the near future."

ICOAF 2022 is sponsored by the VinGroup Innovation Fund (VinIF).

The precursor to ICOAF was the International Conference on Accounting (ICOA), first held in 2015 and jointly organized by the University of Economics - University of Danang, Aston University, UK and Yokohama University, Japan. Right from its inception, the conference quickly garnered attention from academia, business leaders and policymakers, laying the foundation for it to gradually evolve into a prestigious forum discussing contemporary finance and accounting issues. In 2016, finance was officially incorporated into the conference scope, giving rise to the current name ICOAF.

ICOAF 2016 brought together leading professors, doctors, experts, scholars and researchers, attracting significant media attention and establishing its reputation after just two editions. In subsequent years, ICOAF cemented its status as the focal point for specialized researchers from the UK, France, Australia, Japan, Vietnam and beyond. The quality of papers submitted to the ICOAF organizing committee and review board has risen markedly.

By disseminating new multi-dimensional research with rich scientific content, ICOAF enables the scholarly and teaching community to grasp new policy implications, interesting findings and future research directions in accounting and finance.

In 2018, ICOAF was jointly organized by four institutions – University of Economics, University of New South Wales, Massey University and Aston University. Despite the pandemic, ICOAF 2021 was maintained online.

Many eminent scholars participated, including Accounting Professor Mingyi Hung from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Finance Professor Avanidhar Subrahmanyam.

ICOAF 2022 will see 70 leading scientists, researchers and experts in finance and accounting officially attending.

There will be two keynote speakers:

- Finance Professor Talis Putnins, who advises governments, stock exchanges and financial institutions. His research covers financial market design, decentralized finance, blockchain, financial forensics including market manipulation and criminal financing.
