Implementing and expanding the partnership with The National university of Laos

From March 16, the delegation of Da Nang City, Da Nang University and the University of Economics include: Assoc.Prof. Ph.D Giang Thi Kim Lien - Deputy Head of Training Department of Danang University; Assoc.Prof.PhD Dao Huu Hoa - Vice Rector - Chairman of Vietnam - Laos Association at the University of Economics; Assoc.Prof Vo Thi Thuy Anh - Vice Rector of University of Economics; Mr. Nguyen Van Nam - Representative of Da Nang city in the projects of investment and management cooperation in Laos with leaders of Departments, Centers, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration Faculty of the University of Economics visit and discuss issues of cooperation with representatives of the National University of Laos. Receiving the delegation was Assoc. Prof. PhD. Somchan Bounphanmy - Deputy Director of Lao National University.

At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Director Somchan Bounphanmy expressed his pleasure to welcome the working delegation from the University of Economics and expected that the meeting will implement the cooperation proposed by the two sides in previous meetings. Representative of the delegation, Assoc.Ptof.PhD Dao Huu Hoa thanked the important reception that the partner gave to the delegation, and said the meeting is to promote cooperation in many fields between the two units as well as contribute to tightening and connecting between Vietnam and Laos.

At the meeting, representatives of both universtity introduced an overview of the history of formation, scale and strengths of each other. Accordingly, National University of Laos was the first university established in Laos since 1996, and is a comprehensive multi-disciplinary university. National University of Laos has 22 affiliated faculties, nearly 1,200 teaching staff, more than 400 service staff and more than 26,000 students in training systems. On the side of University of Economics, with the brand as the leading school in Business Administration and Economics in Central - Highlands of Vietnam, University of Economics – The University of Danang is always a prestigious school for students in Vietnam and from Laos as well. Over the past years, the University of Economics has trained thousands of Lao bachelors, masters and PhDs, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of many cities in Laos.

Continuing the meeting, two universities discussed in depth about cooperation issues. Specifically, the University of Economics proposed to open a training program in the fields of Business Administration, Economic Development and Economic Management in Vientiane for graduated students, coordinating to expand the exchange programs between two schools. The two sides also hoped that many lecturers, scholars and students would have the opportunity to approach and experience about the learning environment of Vietnam and Laos through exchange projects and scientific research cooperation.

Assoc.Prof.PhD Vo Thi Thuy Anh also proposed to strengthen cooperation activities for research and exchange of scientific knowledge among scientists of two universities. The representative of the University of Economics also introduced and invited scientists of the National University of Laos to attend and write articles for the International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICOAF 2019), Seminar on Business Administration (COMB). Assoc.ProfPhD Somchan Bounphanmy- Vice President also expressed her wish that the two universities will establish exchange of resources and other scientific information.

Agreeing on the contents of the meeting, representatives of the University of Economics and National University of Laos said that they would continue to discuss to come to a cooperation agreement, which is expected to be signed in 5 /2019 in the Education Cooperation Conference between the two governments.

At the end of the meeting, the National University of Laos highly appreciated the visit and work of the University of Economics, and emphasized that it would continue to complete the procedures and design the training program to achieve the goal opening postgraduate training programs between two schools. Assoc.Prof.PhD Dao Huu Hoa also sent an invitation to the Lao National University for a visit and have cooperation discussion at the University of Economics in the near future.

On the same day, the delegation of DUE also held a meeting with the alumni of the school generation in Vientiane Capital. Here, Assoc.Prof.PhD. Dao Huu Hoa asked about the health situation, the work of alumni and students, and said the school always welcomes alumni generations to return to school to study and improve their qualifications in the future.
