Successful Conference on "International and Domestic Contexts Impacting Digital Economic Development: Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnam"

On the morning of March 4th, a scientific conference with the theme "International and Domestic Contexts Impacting Digital Economic Development: Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnam" took place at the University of Economics - Da Nang University. The conference was jointly organized by the University of Economics - Da Nang University and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City within the framework of the national scientific and technological topic "Digital Economic Development: Orientation and Policy Solutions," with the code KX.04.22/21-25.

The conference was attended by esteemed leaders from Da Nang University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, and the University of Economics, as well as received the interest of numerous scientists, experts, and students from the universities.

The conference aimed to provide comprehensive information and exchange insights on the development of the digital economy and society, setting important goals to promote digital transformation in society and the economy. It also aimed to create new opportunities and challenges for digital economic development in Vietnam in the coming period.

Prof. Le Van Huy, Rector of the University of Economics - Da Nang University, affirmed that the conference was a practical scientific activity with current practical significance, especially in implementing the Government's National Strategy for digital economic and social development by 2025. With contributions and suggestions from leading experts in the field of digital economy, the organizers believed that scientists would acquire solid information and scientific solutions to promote Vietnam's digital economic development.

Prof. Nguyen Dong Phong, Chairman of the Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, stated that the conference served as a multidisciplinary forum where participants could share, exchange, and jointly seek specific and optimal solutions to promote the development of the digital economy amid the current strong globalization and digital transformation context. As an educational and research institution, they aimed to contribute scientific theories, global development experiences, practical activities, etc.

Two presentations were delivered at the conference: (1) "International and Domestic Contexts Impacting Digital Economic Development: Opportunities and Challenges" by Assoc. Prof. Tran Dang Khoa, Program Director, Faculty of Business Administration, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, and (2) "Digital Transformation - Roadmap, Capacity, Barriers, and Challenges; World Experiences and Lessons for Vietnam" by Dr. Le Thi Minh Hang, Head of Business Administration Department, University of Economics - Da Nang University. These presentations provided attendees with a clearer understanding of the global situation, which is fraught with difficulties, challenges, and fluctuations, while Vietnam's economy in 2023 continues to experience a "dual impact" from external unfavorable factors and longstanding internal limitations and shortcomings.

Facing the difficulties and challenges of the global socio-economy, the Prime Minister directed ministries, branches, and localities to focus on implementing Resolution No. 01/NQ-CP dated January 6, 2023; Socio-economic recovery and development program; Directive 03/CT-TTg dated January 27, 2023 of the Prime Minister on key tasks and solutions and many policies and solutions to support businesses and people with the determination to create breakthrough motivation for economic development according to set goals. Developing the digital economy, one of the three main pillars in national digital transformation (Digital Government, Digital Economy, and Digital Society) always plays an important role in economic development. To achieve the goal of the digital economy accounts for at least 20% by 2025 as set out in the National Strategy on developing the digital economy and digital society to 2025 and orientation to 2030, The digital economy must grow 3-4 times faster than GDP growth, which is about 20-25%/year, are difficult and challenging tasks that require breakthrough solutions to achieve.

Many opinions were contributed and exchanged on the development of the digital economy and digital society

Several recommendations were made for Vietnam, including Institutional and legal frameworks as prerequisites for digital economic and social development; The development of a digital economy must be closely linked with digital society; Building a digital society centered around the people; Concentrating on holistic and comprehensive development of digital economy and society; The foundation is breakthrough solutions in digital economic development, digital society; Training skills and developing human resources are crucial factors.
