Conference Summarizing the Party Building Work in 2023 and Deploying Directions and Tasks for 2024 at the University of Economics - University of Da Nang

On the afternoon of January 9th, the University of Economics - University of Da Nang organized a conference to summarize the Party building work in 2023 and deploy tasks and directions for 2024. The purpose was to evaluate the results achieved in the Party building work in 2023 and set directions and tasks for 2024.

In attendance at the conference, representing the University Party Committee of Da Nang were Comrade Nguyen Manh Toan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Deputy Director of the University of Da Nang; Comrade Phan Kim Tuan, Head of the Party Committee's Office of the University of Da Nang; Comrade Nguyen Van Han, Member of the Party Inspection Committee of the University.

At the conference, the Party Committee of the University of Economics reported on the Party building work in 2023, highlighting the advantages and achievements, including:

●     Adherence to and organization of the implementation of the Party's guidelines, the state's policies and laws, resolutions, decisions, directives, and conclusions of higher levels: In 2023, the Party members in the University Party Committee, the Chairman of the Trade Union, the Secretary of the Youth Union, and the Chairman of the Veterans Association participated in online learning on resolutions of higher-level Party conferences, such as the specialized conference on building the source of officials, developing Party members by 2025 and the following years; the conference on studying, adhering to, and propagating the content of the work "Resolutely and persistently fight against corruption, negativity, and contribute to building our Party and state increasingly clean and strong" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; the conference on studying, adhering to, and implementing the action programs of the City Party Committee to implement the Resolution of the Sixth Central Committee of the Party (Term XIII) and new documents of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee; the conference to study, learn, adhere to the Resolution of the Eighth Conference of the Party Central Committee (Term XIII); the conference to study, learn, adhere to, and implement Directive No. 34-CT/TU of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on "continuing to promote administrative reform, strengthening discipline, overcoming the situation of evasion, pushing, not doing correctly, fulfilling the responsibilities, tasks, and powers of a part of cadres, Party members, officials, and public employees in the current situation."

●     The Party Committee has closely directed the implementation of the University's annual work programs and plans, and the results of the activities have been well deployed, timely adjusted, and achieved high efficiency.

Education and training activities: The Party Committee has strongly directed the communication of enrollment activities; issued regulations, provisions, organized learning, managed the learning process, reviewed graduation, and warned of study results, and reviewed the detailed syllabus of subjects in the training programs at all levels; developed a 100% English-language teaching program for the Marketing major, converted the "Data Science and Business Analysis" training program at the undergraduate level to a Data Science major in line with the Level IV industry code of the newly issued Ministry of Education and Training. Therefore, enrollment activities have achieved good results, nearly 100% of the set targets with high admission standards, and the foreign language proficiency of enrolled candidates is good. Graduated and awarded degrees to 9 PhD students, 157 graduate students, nearly 2,637 undergraduate students, and 31 students in the work-study program. Successfully enrolled in the Marketing major taught 100% in English, continued to successfully enroll in the International Business major taught 100% in English, and increased enrollment in the work-study program compared to the previous year. The university organized a summer class for students to exchange and attracted students from other schools in the economic bloc to attend.

Examination and quality assurance work: The Party Committee directed the issuance of new regulations for organizing end-of-term exams with many updated contents, including operational procedures in planning, organizing exams, monitoring, and supervising the exam process, as well as entering, announcing, managing, and storing exam scores. As a result, the evaluation of students' learning outcomes has been carried out fairly, accurately, objectively, and quickly, contributing significantly to the completion of the training plan, and students are awarded graduation certificates on time.

The Party Committee has well-directed the organization of the assessment of two training programs in Economic Law and State Management according to Circular No. 04/2016 of the Ministry of Education and Training and four training programs including Management Information Systems, Business Commerce, Economics, Human Resource Management according to AUN-QA 4.0 standards. All six programs have completed external evaluations and are recognized in the year. Regularly directed the organization of surveys and completed reports to collect feedback from relevant parties on all aspects of the university's activities. The surveys are becoming more professional and effective, and the survey results are provided to relevant units as a basis for improving the quality of the university's activities. Directed the organization of acceptance and put into use the question bank for end-of-term exams by 2025, 100% of the subjects have a question bank.

Research and international cooperation activities: Based on the Development Strategy for Science and Technology in the period 2021-2025, vision 2035, the Party Committee has directed the issuance of many policies to encourage and create favorable conditions for the development of scientific research and entrepreneurship, innovation. In the academic year 2022-2023, the University of Economics achieved many achievements in scientific research and international cooperation. There were 78 internationally published papers (including 61 papers in the WoS list), 42 presentations at international conferences, 109 domestically published papers in the list of HĐGSNN, and 73 papers in the proceedings of national scientific conferences. Published 12 books and textbooks for teaching. Successfully organized 6 international conferences and 7 national conferences. Especially, over the years, conferences such as ICOAF, COMB, and MICA have become large-scale and high-quality annual scientific events, establishing the brand of the University of Economics on the scientific map of Vietnam and the region. The Economic Science Journal is regularly published with rich, high-quality content and is evaluated by the State Professorship Council at a score of 0.75 points. Many teachers and students of the University have won high prizes at various levels. The Party Committee has also successfully directed the annual economic assessment report of Da Nang in 2022 and received high praise from relevant stakeholders. The Party Committee is currently continuing to direct the successful implementation of the annual economic assessment report of Da Nang in 2023 and growth scenarios for the next period.

Digital transformation work: The Party Committee directed the completion and development of new management software according to the requirements of functional units within the University; effectively implemented the management, operation, and maintenance of the computer system, WIFI, ensuring security, safety, and smooth operation of the university's network; supported lecturers in applying information technology skills in teaching and enhancing exchanges and sharing of experiences among lecturers. The online teaching work of the University of Economics has been effective, ensuring the progress of work and the set plan, etc.

At the same time, the conference also outlined the directions and tasks of the Party work in 2024 as follows: Continue to build the University Party Committee as a united and cohesive collective; Direct the innovation of university management work in line with digital transformation; Direct the intensive implementation of university autonomy in-depth, linking responsibility with accountability; publicly and transparently disclose information as regulated; Focus on directing personnel work, completing personnel at the university and departmental levels following the correct procedures; Concentrate leadership and direction to successfully enroll in all training levels, especially postgraduate training; Leadership and direction to recruit enough official staff according to the plan in the year, increase the number of lecturers continuing to pursue a Ph.D. under Project 89 and other projects; Concentrate leadership and direction to continue developing a system to ensure quality internally…
