School-level Student Scientific Research Conference for the 2023-2024 Academic Year: Spark Creativity - Shine with Passion

The student scientific research activities at the University of Economics - the University of Danang (DUE) commenced in September 2023, attracting nearly 215 registered projects with the participation of approximately 610 students. These projects cover a wide array of diverse and interdisciplinary topics, including many application-oriented and novel, innovative, and in-depth research projects. The departmental committees selected and nominated the 35 best projects to participate in the School-level Student Scientific Research Conference for the 2023-2024 academic year, held on the morning of June 6.

Attending the conference were representatives from various departments and agencies, including Mr. Tran Van Vu, Director of the Da Nang Statistics Department, and Mr. Huynh Sang, Head of the Technology Management Division, Da Nang Department of Science and Technology. Representing the University of Danang were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Dat, Deputy Head of the Department of Science and International Cooperation, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Minh Quan, Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Department.

From the University of Economics - the University of Danang, the attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh, Chair of the School Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice Rector; Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh, Vice Rector; along with representatives from various faculties and departments, numerous lecturers, and students.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh emphasized: “Scientific research plays a crucial role in teaching and learning activities, enhancing the school's scientific reputation and educational quality. It helps discover, nurture talents, and guide students in their careers. We believe that knowledge is for everyone. No matter how much we can accomplish individually, whether in research or development, it is never enough in the world of knowledge. Therefore, the primary goal of this conference is to exchange and present the latest scientific research results by student groups from our school throughout the academic year. By participating in this exchange, we hope that everyone can apply this knowledge to their fields of interest.”

The 2023-2024 SSR conference is a highly beneficial intellectual platform, encouraging students to create technological products and scientific ideas relevant to practical applications. Through participation in scientific research, students can develop their intellectual capabilities, creative skills, ability to approach and master scientific technology and enhance their self-learning and self-research abilities. To evaluate the outstanding student research projects at the school level, the organizers established five assessment councils based on fields: Management, Economics - State Management, Finance and Banking Accounting, Technology and Informatics, and Data Science. After three intense hours of work, the sub-committees selected the most outstanding scientific research projects.

First Prize Winning Projects:

- The topic "Application of deep learning techniques in fall detection to support elderly care in Vietnam" by students from class 47K29.2, including Phan Minh Phuc, Nguyen Thi Kim Ly, Luong Thi Loc, and Tran Thi Thanh Hien, and Tran Tien Dat (class 48K29.2), supervised by lecturer MSc. Tran Van Loc.

- The topic "How do emotions and innovativeness influence perception and intention to adopt digital banking? Insights from young Vietnamese consumers" by student Tran Kiem Tung from class 46K02.1, supervised by Dr. Le Thi Minh Hang.

- The topic "Exploring the impact of Gratifications on the Behavioral Intention of Voice Assistants’ Users: A cross-cultural study" by students Le Kha Tuyet Phuong, Tran Kim Bao Phuc, Phan Thu Ngan, and Nguyen Thi Hong Ngoc from class 47K01.1, supervised by Dr. Pham Thi Be Loan.

- The topic "Who cares about your green reputation? Evidence from 'financial watchdogs'" by student Nguyen Thanh Khanh Quynh from class 46K15.1, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Huu Man.

- The topic "Analysis and comparison of energy consumption changes in Vietnam and ASEAN countries: An application of the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI) model" by students Nguyen Quynh Nga, Nguyen Tra Giang, and Nguyen Anh Tuan from class 47K32.1, supervised by Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao.

- The topic "Consumer's willingness towards carbon offsetting: the role of perceived information availability, values, and consumer skepticism" by students Nguyen Bao Nhi (class 46K28.1) and Le Ngoc Nhat Mien (class 46K12.2), supervised by Dr. Truong Dinh Quoc Bao.

- The topic "Green credit implementation and profitability of commercial banks in Vietnam" by student Phan Thi Yen Nhi (class 46K07.1), supervised by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thieu Quang.

- The topic "The employees' right to disconnect in the digital age – International experience and suggestions for Vietnam" by students Nguyen Ha Vi Khanh and Pham Thi Minh Phuong (class 46K13.1), supervised by MSc. Do Tran Ha Linh.

- The topic "Decoding the mechanism linking celebrity endorsement and audience intention to attend events: A comparative analysis of international and domestic celebrities in Vietnam" by students Mai Thi Phuong Uyen, Bui Thi Hai Duong, Nguyen Thi Uyen Nhi, and Nguyen Ngoc Uyen Nhi from class 47K26, supervised by Dr. Tran Thi Kim Phuong.

- The topic "The relationship between corporate environmental performance and real activities manipulation: Evidence from emerging Southeast Asian economies" by students Ho Nguyen Hong Anh and Nguyen Thi Hong Phuc from class 46K18.1, supervised by Dr. Nguyen Thi Xuan Linh.

- The topic "Exploring the effect of long wavelength color scheme price tags on purchase intention: An empirical study on Vietnamese customers" by students Huynh Dinh Minh Tri, Tran Xuan Khoa, Le Thi Thao Hien, Nguyen Vuong Thuy Tram, and Le Tran Thao Vy from QT21, supervised by Dr. Pham Thi Be Loan.

The topic "Vietnamese law on resolving domain name .vn disputes - Some world experiences and suggestions for Vietnam" by students Vo Thanh Kha and Nguyen Tran Khanh Nguyen from class 47K13.1, supervised by Dr. Pham Minh Thy Van.

- The topic "Proposing a solution to build a warning system for facility breakdowns at the University of Economics - the University of Danang" by students Tran Cong Hoang (class 46K21.1) and Dinh Bao Loc (class 44K14), supervised by Dr. Hoang Thi Thanh Ha.

At the conference, the school rewarded students who achieved significant success in scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship at national and regional competitions during the 2022-2023 academic year, including:

International Entrepreneurship Awards: 01 Second Prize at the GBA Business Challenge 2023 organized by GBA - German Business Association (part of DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service).

- National Awards: 03 Second Prizes, 01 Third Prize, and 01 Consolation Prize in the 2023 National Student Science and Technology Awards in Higher Education Institutions.

01 Second Prize at the 2023 National Student Science Olympiad in Econometrics and Applications.

In the coming years, the school will continue to invest the best resources to support students in scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship by strengthening connections with businesses, providing the most favorable conditions for students to access practical research environments, offering effective scientific research methodology courses, and focusing on infrastructure and scientific data investment, such as equipping with Fiinpro, Turnitin, online libraries, practice rooms, and research rooms.

The university hopes that through scientific research competitions, students will have the opportunity to accumulate experience, learn scientific thinking methods, solve problems, write scientific reports, and group work as well as presenting results and scientific ideas. From the knowledge and research results gained, students will further develop and expand research topics, thereby applying them to practice for future work.
