DUE Students Excel at Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics and International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia 2023

The 32nd Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics (OLP'23) and the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia Hue City 2023 took place in Hue from December 5th to 8th. This intellectual playground for technology enthusiasts provided an opportunity for students passionate about information technology (IT) to showcase their capabilities, compete, and be recognized for their IT talents and skills on the largest international scale in Vietnam. Moreover, the competition can be seen as a measure that reflects the quality of training and scientific research in students from various universities and institutes nationwide.

The competition saw the participation of over 600 students from 78 universities, colleges, and academies across the country. Internationally, 20 teams with 60 students represented 10 prestigious universities from six countries: South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The entire online scoring system followed international standards, and the programming competition questions were conducted using the VNOJ system operated by the Vietnam Olympic Club, with the programming competition system following the Procon Japan standard.

The delegation from the Faculty of Statistics and Informatics, University of Economics - University of Da Nang, consisted of three students led by Assoc. Prof. Hoang Thi Thanh Ha and Dr. Nguyen Thi Uyen Nhi. They participated in two categories: the non-major block and the ICPC international student programming block. As a result, the team won two Third Prizes (Non-major block): students Vo Thi Thanh Kieu - class 48K14.1 and student Dinh Sy Quoc Doanh - class 48K14.2 (both majoring in Information System Management). This achievement is highly encouraging and prideful for the students of the Faculty of Statistics and Informatics, University of Economics, as they return to this prestigious and academically significant intellectual competition.

This success is not only an honor and pride for the student Olympic team and their mentors but also serves as motivation for the faculty and students of the Faculty of Statistics and Informatics to continue teaching, researching, and learning to achieve even greater success in the coming years.
