Sharing experiences in intellectual asset management and intellectual property ownership management at the university

On the afternoon of May 10th, officials and lecturers from the University of Economics and over 60 students from the Law faculty, along with reporter Nguyen Thi Thuy - Deputy Head of the Department in charge of Representative Office of the National Office of Intellectual Property in Da Nang city, participated in an open discussion on the topic "Intellectual Property Rights in Vietnamese Economics and Business Universities." The symposium provided a platform for experts, lecturers, and law students to expand their knowledge and exchange information on establishing intellectual property rights, copyright, and related rights.

Attendees included representatives from the university's Administration Board, such as Associate Professor Huynh Thi Hong Hanh - Vice Rector, the Trade Union Executive Board represented by Master Phan Kim Tuan - Trade Union Chairman, Associate Professor Dang Huu Man - Head of the Department of Science and International Cooperation, Associate Professor Tran Thi Sau - Head of the Law Faculty, Master Nguyen Chuong - Head of the Inspectorate and Legal Affairs Department, as well as a large number of university students. The symposium was organized by the University of Economics - University of Danang in collaboration with the university's Trade Union and the Representative Office of the Intellectual Property Office in Danang City.

Speaking at the symposium, Associate Professor Huynh Thi Hong Hanh emphasized that education and scientific research are among the top priorities in the university's development strategy. Particularly in the era of Industry 4.0, when lecturers and students have a solid understanding of intellectual assets and intellectual property rights, they can engage in more creative activities, establish intellectual property rights, and effectively exploit intellectual assets such as textbooks, lectures, computer programs, and scientific research works. The University of Economics expects that the symposium will provide valuable opportunities for faculty members and students to gain useful information about intellectual assets, intellectual property rights, registration procedures for intellectual property rights, and more. It also serves as a warning to avoid intellectual property infringement and ensure integrity in teaching and scientific research, a core value that the university has proclaimed.

During the presentation on "Intellectual Property Rights in Vietnamese Economics and Business Universities," Master Nguyen Thi Thuy introduced intellectual assets and intellectual property rights to the faculty, lecturers, and students. Through specific examples in teaching and research activities at the university, the presenter analyzed the importance of intellectual property rights, copyright, and related rights in promoting creativity, recognition, establishment, protection, and effective commercial exploitation of intellectual assets generated in educational and scientific research activities. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thuy also provided valuable information to university faculty, lecturers, and students regarding copyright registration for intellectual assets and measures to protect their own copyright. The intellectual property protection methods presented by the speaker truly serve as a "compass" for authors to understand the importance of managing their intellectual assets, thereby optimizing and securely protecting their copyright in intellectual assets.

Lecturers, students, and the presenter also touched upon several current and topical issues related to intellectual property rights in recent times.
