The project of the student team “Shirmpp” from the University of Economics - the University of Danang won the title of Champion in the final round of GBA Business Challenge 2021 on November 2, 2021.

GBA Business Challenge 2021 is a startup competition organized by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD and the German Business Association in Vietnam. The contest aims to actualize interesting and creative business ideas from the young community of Vietnamese students.

The “Shirmpp” team consists of students: Nguyen Phuoc Vinh An (Mark – QT18 class), Dinh Gia Anh Minh (Garen – QT19 class) from the University of Economics, the University of Danang combined with two students from the University of Pedagogy, the University of Danang together researched and developed the topic "Bio-Pro inoculants to treat industrial by-products of shrimp production".

This idea comes from the desire to protect the environment and to treat waste after industrial shrimp processing. A special feature of the idea is to use specific probiotics Bio-Pro to treat shrimp by-products during processing to create Bio-Pos microbial organic fertilizer. Through many suggestions from the advisory board, from MS. Ananta Kar - lecturer of the International Training Center to support the direction of project development, the SHIRMPP team has made many strides in completing the project. Initially, the team's idea won the second prize in the Start-up Runway 2021 competition organized by the University of Economics, the University of Danang in October 2021.

This is a great combination of professional ability, research, and microbiology analysis of students of Faculty of Biology - Environment, the University of Pedagogy, and on the one hand, students of International Program, the University of Economics in the field of idea development, business planning, production model, commercialization, bringing products to market. Vinh An - Shrimpp team leader shared: "During the competition, the most difficult thing for the group was affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, making direct contact and teamwork between two groups of students from the University of Pedagogy and the University of Economics to complete the project file is extremely difficult. In addition, as the leader of the group, I was also very hesitant to consider the time and work not only for myself but also for the team members so that participating in the competition would not affect the quality of our studies. Finally, there is an internal difficulty of the project because it is a biological project, so the issue of copyright and information is a matter of great concern. We had to discuss a lot to understand the biological values that the product brings as well as how to fully present all aspects of the product without revealing the security information that needs to be disclosed.  After all, we were able to overcome and achieve certain achievements.”

In the GBA Business Challenge 2021, SHIRMPP continued to excel in challenging qualifying rounds with more than 60 other teams from universities across the country, selected as the Top 5 project to advance to the final round, project presentation, Q&A directly in front of the Jury. On the evening of December 2, 2021, the final round was held in Ho Chi Minh City which was very exciting when the Organizing Committee decided to choose only one winning team to focus resources on implementing the idea. The contest judges were completely conquered by the impressive presentation and highly appreciated the good idea and viable business model of the SHIRMPP project.
