The signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between DUE - ACCA - KPMG: Promoting the process of international integration in university education

The University of Economics - the University of Danang, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and KPMG Co., Ltd. conducted the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement among the parties in the online form on November 27, 2021. The signing ceremony marked a milestone for the close cooperation of the three parties in the future, in order to bring many useful activities and career opportunities to DUE students.

Attending the signing ceremony, on the side of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, there were Ms. Nguyen Thuy Minh Chau, ACCA's Chief Representative in Vietnam, Ms. Khuat Thi Lien Huong - Head of Education Department, Mainland Southeast Asia, Ms. Le Hoang Mai, Head of Advanced Training, ACCA Vietnam, Ms. Le Tran Tieu Hong - Head of Student Services, ACCA Vietnam. On the side of KPMG Co., Ltd., there was Mr. Truong Vinh Phuc - Deputy General Director of Auditing. On the side of the University of Economics, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh - Vice Rector of the school, together with leaders of departments.

Opening speech at the signing ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh - Vice Rector of the school sent warm greetings to the delegates attending the signing ceremony. KPMG and ACCA are two units that have had a successful cooperation relationship with the university for many years. The strategic goal of the university is to internationalize the learning environment, standardize the training program to ensure the quality of education. The cooperation among the university, KMPG, and ACCA is one of the necessary steps to achieve that strategic goal. Along with the efforts of the three parties, it is believed that this cooperation relationship will bring good results for the University of Economics and the two partners.

The Memorandum of understanding is aimed to explore mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities, set out the responsibilities and roles of the Parties in the process of working together, and promote each party's interests and common interests.

KPMG committed to cooperating with the University of Economics, the University of Danang and ACCA in the following areas: (1) Attending a Career Orientation session for first-year students of a training program in Accounting, Auditing, and Finance integrated the ACCA program; (2) Participating in practical experience sharing sessions/workshops for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students; (3) Organizing visits to KPMG's office for 2nd and 3rd-year students; (4) Arranging a summer internship for up to 5 final year students with a GPA of 3.2/4 or higher and have passed 3 subjects at the Applied Knowledge level in the ACCA program, excluding the subjects are exempted, before May 30 of each year. KPMG Human Resources Department will interview all students who meet the target and select the best 5 students to participate in the summer internship. Eligible students will participate in a full-time and unsubsidized internship from July 1 to August 15 of each year; (5) Priority in recruiting interns and new graduates who meet the requirements of KPMG.

The University of Economics committed to cooperate with KPMG and ACCA in the following fields: (1) Providing student lists and student results of the Faculty of Accounting, Faculty of Finance for scholarship programs, internships...; (2) Supporting to coordinate activities between students and student organizations of the Faculty of Accounting, Faculty of Finance; (3) Coordinating and organizing student events, such as program launch, on-campus career talks, program communication support (online and in-person), informal conversations outside campus with award winners, meetings with award winners, student counseling sessions, time and place of aptitude tests, etc. to avoid overlap formal academic programs or other priorities of the Faculty of Accounting, Faculty of Finance; (4) Implementing management control over academic performance and career training as well as providing support and guidance to students as needed.

ACCA committed to working with KPMG and the University of Economics in the following areas: (1) Supporting students with their best efforts in management issues for this program and the exams of the Certificate in Accounting and Business, including Learning and Teaching support; (2) Working closely with KPMG to carry out activities for students; (3) Conducting information and counseling sessions on the exams of the Certificate in Accounting and Business, related advanced courses of the ACCA program and study/exam skills for students; (4) Coordinating with the University of Economics to monitor the academic performance of the scholarship recipients and provide appropriate support to the students in accordance with ACCA's regulations.

This cooperation is an important event marking the milestone of the three parties' long-term close cooperation. We believe that with the enthusiastic teaching of the lecturers of the University of Economics and the cooperation of ACCA, the school's students will have good knowledge and sharp thinking about accounting and finance right from the start. while sitting in the school chair”.

Ms. Nguyen Thuy Minh Chau, Chief Representative of ACCA Vietnam commented: “Today's cooperation agreement will be a solid foundation for the three sides to work together to implement important plans, long-term cooperation, and efforts to train high-quality human resources, solid knowledge, serious and professional career thinking for students”.

The signing ceremony of cooperation among the University of Economics, KPMG, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants took place successfully. This affirmed the prestige in the training activities of the University, as well as further promotes the international integration process in the university's higher education for accounting and finance majors in the direction of professional practice.
