Foundation laid for cooperation between University of Economics, The University of Da Nang and The Université du Quesbec à Montréal (Canada)


In the afternoon of November the 30th, Mr. St Aman Sylvain, Director of International Cooperation - The Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) met and discussed the opportunity of cooperation with University of Economics - The University of Da Nang (UE-UD). The delegation was welcomed by the Board of Directors: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh - Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr.  Le Van Huy - Head of the Training Department, Dr. Doan Thi Lien Huong - Deputy Head of the Training Department; Dr. Duong Thi Lien Ha - Deputy Head of Department of Science and International Cooperation; Dr. Vo Quang Tri - Vice Dean of Marketing and  faculty members as former students of the Université du Québec à Montréal  (Canada). Representatives from the National Economics University were also present at the meeting, consisting of Dr. Dong Xuan Dam - Director of International Training Institute and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Quang Vinh - Director of Distance Learning Center.

At the beginning of the meeting, representatives of UE-UD introduced the scale, structure, training programs, international cooperation networks, and achievements of UE-UD in recent years. With more than 50 international partners from around the world, UE-UD representatives said that the partnership between UE-UD and UQAM would further develop in the future, laying the foundation for UE-UD to expand the partnership in the beautiful Canada, especially when UQAM is also the place where many of the UE-UD staffs have studied.


Based on the similarity of some training programs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh proposed some forms of cooperation such as 2+2, 3+1 transitional programs, 3+1+1 postgraduate training, and master courses in different fields. In addition, UQAM and UE-UD can jointly build exchange programs for lecturers and students, or exchange experiences and knowledge in training and hosting international conferences. Over the years, the University of Economics has made great efforts to build a brand in the field of scientific knowledge exchange and international cooperations through prestigious conferences such as the International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICOAF), Marketing Seminar in the Connected Era (MICA), Education Fair, etc., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh said that the University of Economics is always ready to welcome UQAM and hoped that UQAM representatives would participate in international seminars held by UE-UD in 2018.
St Aman Sylvain expressed his excitement for the prospect of cooperation between UQAM and University of Economics - the University of Da Nang in many fields. On the basis of successful cooperation with partners in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the Director of International Cooperation, UQAM highly appreciated Da Nang City's potentials for the development of human resource training and education as well as tourism, etc. and said that UE-UD would be an important partner of UQAM in the future. UQAM representatives strongly approved the proposals of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh for the cooperation in terms of student exchange and transfer and confirmed that they would actively cooperate with the UE-DU in order for the UE-UD lecturers and students to soon have the opportunities to study in Canada and improve their knowledge.

At the meeting, both sides continued to discuss so as to remove the obstacles and difficulties in constructing the transitional program framework and advancing the language proficiency for students studying abroad. In addition, short-term semesters, summer semesters and student exchanges are believed to also bring students from the two universities together and provide the experience of Vietnamese and Canadian educational systems. Representatives from the two sides will continue their discussions over several channels and expect to come to a cooperative agreement in the next meeting. Joining the discussion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Quang Vinh and Dr. Dong Xuan Dam said that the National Economics University and the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City will also play a supporting and consulting role in UE-UD's developing a cooperative relationship with UQAM.
