THE ADVANCED “WORK- BASED LEARNING” WORKSHOP UNDER THE FRAMEWORK OF THE USAID-LMI COMET PROJECT

The University of Danang (UD) in collaboration with the USAID-LMI COMET team to hold the advanced workshop on "Work-Based Learning" under the Connecting the Mekong through Education and Training project (USAID-LMI COMET) of the U.S. Agency for International Development on September 27&28, 2018.

 

The workshop aimed at lecturers, educational managers at UD member universities such as University of Science and Technology, University of Education, University of Education and Technology, University of Foreign Language Studies, VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education, School of Medicine and Pharmacy.The purpose of the workshop is to foster the internship quality of student, improve the training program and give students more practical experiences to have enough ability to adapt requirements of labor market after graduation.

This model not only helps to narrow the gap between employers and jobseekers but also ensures that the career awareness is being integrated into the educational process. This is also a method to improve the job rate for students through the development of university-enterprise relationship as well as use the new training approaches and the innovation improvement in universities.

Officially launched in March, 2016, UD has become a learning center for the Mekong region in the MekongSkills2Work network – being one of the 12 leading educational institutions in the ASEAN Economic Community with the effort to equip the working skills for graduates in the increasingly dynamic global market.

The USAID-LMI COMET project will help universities and vocational training centers increase the number of qualified human resources in the lower Mekong countries. The project is designed to narrow the gap between the private sector, universities and vocational training centers to ensure the supply of highly qualified workforce meeting the needs of local enterprises.
