Supporting Cooperative Societies in Hoa Vang District to Adapt and Operate Efficiently in the Context of Digital Transformation

As part of the cooperation between the University of Economics and Hoa Vang District in the New Rural Development Program for the period 2023-2025, the University of Economics organized a management training course for leaders of cooperative societies in Hoa Vang District, Da Nang City. The training took place over two days, May 4 and 5, at the district committee hall of Hoa Vang District.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. To Van Hung – Member of the City Party Committee, Secretary of Hoa Vang District Party Committee, leaders of the departments under the Hoa Vang District People's Committee, leaders of the communes in Hoa Vang District, and leaders of the cooperative societies. From the University of Economics, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh – Vice Rector, MSc. Nguyen Van Long – Vice Chairman of the School’s Trade Union, Vice Dean of the Business Administration Faculty, along with lecturers who were the presenters for the training course.

In his speech at the training course, Mr. To Van Hung expressed the desire to continue effective cooperation with the University of Economics with truly useful topics aligned with the socio-economic development orientation of Hoa Vang District. Expanding cooperation further, Hoa Vang District and the University of Economics aim to effectively leverage the district's potential, fostering robust socio-economic development in line with the district’s historical and cultural context, as per the cooperation agreement signed in May 2023.

From the effectiveness of the training courses, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh stated that the University of Economics would facilitate more lecturers and students from the University to participate in the socio-economic development activities of Hoa Vang District. With proven training and research capabilities, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh believes that the University of Economics will play an important role in the development and growth of Hoa Vang District in the coming years.

Held over two days, the training course provided knowledge and skills to enhance management and operational capacities for the leaders of cooperative societies, helping them adapt better and operate more efficiently in the current era of digital technology explosion. The topics presented at the training course were developed by experts from the University of Economics, drawing from practical experience and business activities, enriching the knowledge, experience, and enhancing the management and operational skills of the cooperative society leaders.

The topic "Business Activities in the Trend of the 4.0 Revolution and the Digital Era Explosion" by Dr. Nguyen Son Tung – Lecturer of the Business Administration Faculty, updated the latest information on the explosion of digital technology in recent times. Consequently, business models and methods will also change and transform significantly according to the digital technology trend. Dr. Nguyen Son Tung also introduced some new business models in the 4.0 era and provided many practical examples and statistics for cooperative societies to reference and learn from.

In the second topic, "Management of Agricultural Supply Chains in the Digital Era," MSc. Tran Dinh Long – Lecturer of the Business Administration Faculty, closely addressed the management of agricultural supply chains globally and in Vietnam. In this, the application of digital transformation plays a crucial role in the management of agricultural supply chains today. Typical examples of digital technology applications worldwide were introduced by MSc. Tran Dinh Long, such as IBM Food Trust, Blue River Technology, The Yield Technology, iCheck Trace, Plantix, etc., provides effective solutions that Hoa Vang District cooperative societies can apply.

Dr. Nguyen Xuan Lan – Lecturer of the Business Administration Faculty, also brought two very practical topics for the students who are leaders and managers of cooperative societies: "Innovating Leadership Styles" and "Strategic Orientation for Cooperative Development in the Digital Era." These topics focused on solving management and governance issues, especially the management of cooperative societies in the digital technology revolution era. In the new context, leaders of cooperative societies need to change their management thinking and develop organizational strategies to adapt to the market and align with the socio-economic development orientation of the locality.

The training course received positive feedback from the participants, with cooperative society managers raising many issues for discussion with the presenters to develop their cooperative societies in the digital age and globalization context.

At the closing session of the training course, Mr. Phan Duy Anh – Vice Chairman of the Hoa Vang District People's Committee, acknowledged and highly appreciated the active participation and serious, inquisitive spirit of the students, contributing to the success of the training course. The district leaders also expressed gratitude to the University of Economics for accompanying the district in enhancing the management capacities and skills of cooperative society officials, helping the cooperative societies to adapt better and operate effectively in the current era of digital technology explosion.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh – Vice Rector and President of the Trade Union of the University of Economics, stated that the University wishes to participate in practical community service activities to contribute to socio-economic development, especially in Da Nang City, including Hoa Vang District. Leveraging the University's strengths, the University of Economics will actively engage with the district to organize suitable training courses in the context of the district’s economic and social development, such as building business models, entrepreneurship, project investment planning, e-commerce, community tourism, ecological tourism, etc., or training courses related to digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence in education and training.
