Student Affairs Conference 2023-2024: Exchanging Ideas, Contributing to Build ing a Civilized, Friendly, and Modern University

On the afternoon of December 16, the University of Economics - University of Da Nang organized the Student Affairs Conference for the academic year 2023-2024. The conference had the honor of hosting distinguished guests, including Assoc. Prof. Duong Minh Quan - Vice Chairman of the Student Affairs Committee of the University of Da Nang. From the University of Economics, there was Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh - Vice-Rector of the university, along with leaders from departments, offices, centers, teachers, and student representatives from cohorts 46 to 49, representing the 14,000 students of the university.

Addressing the conference, Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh emphasized that the conference served as a forum for students to exchange thoughts, and aspirations in various areas such as academics, extracurricular activities, and social engagement. The department-level Student Affairs Conferences had previously played a vital role in listening to students' concerns, addressing questions, and acknowledging students' contributions. Emphasizing democratic values, these conferences contributed to fostering a strong bond between teachers and students, enhancing the quality of education in the university. Through this conference, the university encouraged students to collectively contribute new ideas and solutions to enhance the student role in building a civilized and modern learning environment.

The conference included a report summarizing student affairs for the academic year 2022-2023 and outlined the directions and tasks for student affairs in the academic year 2023-2024.

To recognize the achievements of students in the past academic year, the university presented commendation certificates to 22 students who served as class officials and successfully fulfilled their duties during the academic year 2022-2023. Additionally, 17 students received commendations for their active contributions to university activities during the same period.

Following the commendation ceremony, the conference continued with lively presentations and discussions from students in an open and democratic atmosphere. Students' proposals and recommendations focused on three main areas: Infrastructure, facilities, and student support services; Training, examinations, scholarships; Extracurricular activities, discipline points, and school uniform etiquette. All the highlighted issues were addressed and explained thoroughly by the Student Union President. Urgent matters would be directed by the university leadership for prompt resolution, aligning with the genuine needs and wishes of the students. Long-term suggestions would be incorporated into the annual plan and adjusted based on the practical situation.

Furthermore, student representatives also voiced opinions on the development of the Communist Party, support for scientific research, and opportunities for student exchanges both domestically and internationally. The Student Union President - Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh engaged in discussions and provided guidance to students directly with leaders from departments and offices to address concerns and gather recommendations. Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh expressed gratitude for the proposals and ideas from student representatives and introduced official channels for feedback, such as through lecturers, department academic affairs offices, and the Student Affairs Office. With a high level of consensus, the Student Affairs Conference for the academic year 2023-2024 successfully concluded at 5:00 PM on the same day.
