Announcement of the Appointment of Rector for the University of Economics, University of Danang, for the 2020-2025 Term

On the morning of October 25, the University of Danang and the University of Economics held a solemn ceremony to announce and confer the decision to recognize Professor Associate Professor Le Van Huy as the Rector of the University of Economics for the term 2020-2025, in accordance with Decision No. 4528/QD-UD-DHDA.

Attending the ceremony were leaders from various local government agencies, departments, and organizations within Danang City, as well as representatives from business associations, local enterprises, and other member universities of the University of Danang.

The University of Danang's leadership was represented by Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, member of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Director of the University of Danang; Assoc. Prof. Le Thanh Bac, Deputy Director of the University of Danang; and Prof. Truong Ba Thanh, former Deputy Director of the University of Danang, former Secretary of the Party Committee, and former Rector of the University of Economics and representatives of units under the University of Danang.

I hope that the University of Economics will continue to soar to greater heights in the coming years. I also hope that all the faculty and staff will provide unwavering support and work together with the new Rector to fulfill his responsibilities." He further urged the new Rector to continue building on past achievements, uphold maximum autonomy while adhering to regulations, actively listen, learn, and bring innovation to drive the University of Economics to new heights.

In his acceptance speech, the newly appointed Rector, Assoc. Prof. Le Van Huy, expressed his sincere gratitude to the leadership of the university for their trust and the opportunity to serve as the Rector of the University of Economics. Besides, the new Rector commented: “I always appreciate and continue to promote the achievements of previous generations; always try my best, humbly listen and learn; Respect and promote all potential and collective intelligence; wholeheartedly serve the development of the University in the new period; decisive in action, managing work flexibly but decisively; Dare to think - dare to do, dare to take responsibility for common development. Nurture the tradition of solidarity and consensus; Together with the leadership and teachers of the university, we propose major policies and effective solutions to continue developing the University of Economics, University of Danang to be on par with Southeast Asia and towards the world; maintain close, intimate and responsible relationships under the common roof of the University of Danang; greatly contributing to the University of Danang becoming a National University as soon as possible."

With his new role and responsibilities, Assoc. Prof. Le Van Huy, as the new Rector, will work alongside the university's leadership and all faculty and staff to develop and implement an action plan that maximizes the university's potential. This plan will involve close collaboration among all university units, the efficient use of shared resources within the Danang University System, continuous improvements in various aspects of the university's activities, and a focus on realizing the vision and aspirations for the development of the University of Economics as outlined in the "University Development Strategy" for the years 2025 and 2035. The strategy emphasizes several key priorities, including:

Firstly, continuously improving the quality of the faculty by adjusting and enhancing mechanisms and policies to attract talented individuals, nurturing and retaining competent faculty members. Implementing democratic governance with maximum autonomy for university units so that everyone can "be proactive, creative, improve work efficiency" and associate responsibility with accountability.

Secondly, ongoing review and adjustment of training programs, focusing on quality assurance through innovative teaching methods, assessment and evaluation, etc. to improve training quality and approach international standards.

Thirdly, enhancing the efficiency of university management by embracing digital transformation and the establishment of a smart university.

Fourthly, promoting scientific research and academic freedom activities, with an emphasis on connecting research with teaching and participating in the development of local economic and social policies.

Fifthly, expanding international cooperation in education, scientific research, and university management to absorb, transfer, and apply knowledge and management technologies effectively.

Sixthly, promoting student affairs with a focus on “placing students at the center of the educational process” and creating an environment for developing students' skills in an integrating world.

Seventhly, implementing strategies to increase and diversify revenue sources, ensuring that financial resources are used correctly, and making efficient use of capital investment in the construction of essential facilities and ongoing improvement of existing infrastructure.

Eighthly, Building a "green, clean, and friendly" environment that aligns with the university's pursuit of the Green University model (Green DUE), with the goal of fostering a sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle for both faculty and students.
