Summary of Scientific Activities & International Collaboration for the Academic Year 2022 - 2023: Innovation, Renewal, Strengthening, and Enhancing Educational Excellence at DUE

On the afternoon of October 2nd, the University of Economics hosted a conference to recapitulate the research and international collaboration efforts for the academic year 2022-2023 and discuss the prospects for the 2023-2024 academic year. The conference was attended by prominent figures, including Dr. Truong Le Bich Tram, Deputy Head of the Committee for Science, Technology, and the Environment at the University of Da Nang, Mr. Ho Long Ngoc, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Committee at the University of Da Nang. Representing the University of Economics were Associate Professor Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh, Deputy Rector in charge, Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Huy, Deputy Rector, and Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh, Deputy Rector, alongside the leadership of various affiliated units.

During the academic year 2022-2023, the faculty and students at the University of Economics displayed remarkable dedication to their scientific research and international collaboration activities, achieving commendable results. Research endeavors and knowledge transfer in the fields of economics and management to the community and international cooperation continued to expand in both scale and quality.

The highlight of the academic year 2022-2023 was the university's maiden publication of the Annual Report on the Economic Assessment of Da Nang City for the year 2022 and the growth scenario for 2023 in June 2023. In addition, the number of international publications on WoS/Scopus increased by 4 compared to the academic year 2021-2022, and the compliance rate with the scientific research hours standard improved. The University's Economics Journal received recognition from the State Professorship Council, earning 0.75 points, and it began publishing online at tapchikhkt.vn, offering 24/7 online article submission support. Throughout the academic year, the university collaborated in organizing several significant conferences, creating platforms for connecting with global scholars through prestigious events such as ICOAF, MICA, COMB, Computing4Human, SR-ICYREB. National scientific conferences also left a mark with their high-quality research topics and extensive organization, including the National Scientific Conference "Human Resources and Motivation for National Development," CLSCM 2022, the National Scientific Conference "Current Situation and Solutions to Enhance the Resilience and Crisis Response Capacity in Da Nang City's Economy," DANEC 2022, and more. The faculty and students' dedication to scientific research at the university was demonstrated through numerous scientific awards, innovation, and creativity recognitions, including two commendations from the People's Committee of Da Nang City, acknowledgments for outstanding achievements in entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity from the Da Nang City People's Committee, and nine faculty members receiving commendations from the Director of the University of Da Nang for their excellent scientific publications. Furthermore, one faculty member received recognition for their valuable applied research. Awards such as the Ministry-level Student Research Award, the First Prize in the Da Nang City Student Research Competition, the Eureka Science Award, the two Best Paper awards at the SR-ICYREB 2022 conference, the First Prize, Second Prize, and Honorable Mention in the Startup Runway 2023 competition, and many other achievements are clear evidence of the dedication in the university's scientific research activities. The university also strengthened its collaborations with businesses, creating numerous opportunities for cooperation in the fields of education, enhancing competence, and professional expertise for learners and trainees, and recruiting personnel.

In international cooperation activities, the University continued to enhance faculty and student exchanges through projects signed with partners in Europe, Australia, and the Americas. Specifically, 53 students successfully completed procedures to study at partner universities, including 44 students transferring to the cooperative training program with Coventry University, and four students participating in exchange programs at partner universities. The university also welcomed 122 international students and one short-term exchange student. Six cooperation agreements were signed with partners in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The Logistics (WBI-sponsored) and FHER (USAID-sponsored) projects were effectively implemented. External seminars were regularly organized, drawing the active participation of a large number of faculty and students.

During the conference, Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh emphasized the university's commitment to investing in scientific research and international cooperation policies, aiming to enhance the research capacity of faculty and students and elevate the reputation of the University of Economics within the international community. University leadership proposed that all units continue to collaborate closely, effectively implementing the objectives in scientific research and international cooperation for the academic year 2023-2024 to further enhance the reputation of DUE.

At the conference, leaders of the various units exchanged ideas and proposals regarding scientific research and international collaboration activities, aiming to provide greater support to faculty and students engaged in research. They also emphasized the importance of aligning academic research with practical applications, expanding the network of international partners, and reinforcing their role as policy advisors to localities in the Central Highlands.

Delegates also approved the scientific and technological criteria and international cooperation objectives for the University of Economics for 2023-2024, making necessary adjustments better to suit the university's capabilities and real-world circumstances.
