Life as a Student Abroad in the U.S. - Unforgettable Experiences of a DUE Student

11/07/2023

Experiencing the academic environment and exploring the lifestyle and culture of Western countries is the dream of many students. This dream became a reality for Nguyen Dinh Minh Anh, a former student of the International Undergraduate Program at the University of Economics, Da Nang University (DUE).

Fulfilling the Dream of Studying in the U.S. of Minh Anh

Minh Anh's dream of studying abroad came true, and since mid-March 2023, she has been studying Business Administration at the City University of Seattle in the state of Washington, under DUE's International Undergraduate Program. Studying in a foreign country, especially in the U.S., has provided Minh Anh with numerous experiences and challenges, allowing her to develop independence, explore new cultures, and meet new people. These experiences have contributed to Minh Anh's personal growth and broadened her global perspective. According to Minh Anh, "Seattle is a beloved city due to its unique blend of stunning nature and diverse cultural scene. The climate is pleasantly cool, making every photo picturesque without any adjustments needed."

Life in Seattle is quite distant from the university, and Minh Anh wakes up at 6:30 am every day to catch the bus to school, she will walk about 15 minutes to the bus stop and sit for more than 1 hour to get to the nearest bus stop and walk about 5 minutes to get to school, as the classes start at 9 am. Despite the distance, Minh Anh enjoys the feeling of sitting on the busy streets in the morning bus, and she even has the opportunity to exercise by walking or jogging if she oversleeps, "It's like hitting two birds with one stone”, Minh Anh said.

Minh Anh has many reasons to believe that DUE's international program is the right choice

Seattle is a beautiful city with diverse nature and many entertaining places to visit. After classes, Minh Anh often goes out with classmates to relieve stress and breathe fresh air. Moreover, the city boasts an extensive public transportation system that makes it easy to reach various destinations.

Seattle offers a wide variety of international cuisine from different cultures and regions, which Minh Anh enjoys without worries about gaining weight, thanks to the combination of a balanced diet and regular exercise. She was pleasantly surprised to find a thriving Vietnamese community in Seattle, especially those from her hometown of Da Nang. There are many Vietnamese markets and restaurants, and people often say to her, "You don't lack anything here; the key is to have the energy to enjoy and explore the culture of this land." Minh Anh admits that indeed she lacks nothing, and with a wide range of Vietnamese dishes available from the North to the South, she no longer worries about missing Vietnamese food.

To have these experiences, Minh Anh made study plans and set clear goals for herself. She learns from seniors, friends, and advice from teachers and family to find the most suitable study methods. Clear and specific goals help her focus on what needs to be done and stay motivated. She regularly monitors her academic progress, identifying mistakes in assignments or exams to improve her learning outcomes. With the goal of exploring a new educational system and environment, experiencing a different culture, and expanding her global perspective, Minh Anh chose to participate in DUE's International Undergraduate Program.

The program has equipped her with fundamental knowledge in economics and management fields such as economics, finance, marketing, human resources management, strategic management, and various related areas, providing a solid foundation for her to further specialize in a foreign university. Moreover, studying in the U.S., Minh Anh has had the opportunity to enhance her English skills, which is a great advantage when applying for scholarships at foreign universities.

Minh Anh's ultimate goal is to excel in her academic program and secure a position in prestigious companies in Vietnam or the U.S. The City University of Seattle is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) in the U.S. and is a partner university of DUE, located in the vibrant economic, business, and technology hub of Seattle. Therefore, Minh Anh believes this university is the ideal choice for his major in Business Administration.

Now, while studying and immersing herself in Western education and experiencing the local culture and lifestyle, Minh Anh has all the reasons to trust that choosing DUE's International Undergraduate Program was the right decision. The program has provided her with opportunities to study abroad, combining international knowledge with a solid foundation from DUE. DUE's International Undergraduate Program offers a multicultural learning environment, broadens perspectives, develops international skills, and ensures a high-quality foundation in the field of business administration.
