GERMANY JOURNEY OF LUONG NGUYEN HOANG ANH - EPISODE 2: STUDY IN GERMANY

10/03/2019

Following the first term about the life and cultural experiences of student Luong Nguyen Hoang Anh, student of class 43K01.2, this period we will come to Hoang Anh's learning experiences at the University of Science and Technology. Application Westphalian, Germany.

Episode 2: A worthy study experience in Germany

During the winter semester 2018-2019, I studied all 6 subjects: Financial Reporting, Business Statistics, International Management, Economic Policy, European Union Institutions, and German; and had 2 field trips to Berlin to visit the German Federal Assembly and to Frankfurt financial center to visit the European Central Bank (ECB). Each subject, each major, and each professor leave different impressions and bring their own values with clear professional orientation. The two subjects that left the deepest impression on me were Financial Reporting - the subject that gave me the opportunity for the first time in my life to write an academic essay and defend it in front of a professor at the end of the semester. Another subject is Economic Policy - a course that has completely opened my mind about the political, economic and legal system in Europe and trained me in systematic critical analysis skills. studied with Professor Walter - who worked at the German Unification Ministry after the 1990s.

For me, the most challenging thing when studying in an international environment like this is not how high my English level is, but whether my basic general knowledge is solid or not. In my case, I came to Germany when I just finished my first year of university with only 10 general subjects, while the 6 subjects I signed up for were mostly for final year students in Germany. The gap in my research skills and academic knowledge base at that time with the subject I needed to study was quite large, especially the skills of synthesizing scientific articles, reading scholarly and writing a complete essay. . However, thanks to getting used to the intensity of study and self-study from DUE, I quickly adapted to the new learning environment in Germany. The professors also understand the difficulties of each student and set aside one-on-one meetings after school to give more specific guidance on scientific research skills, thereby helping them quickly overcome their academic difficulties. original learning side and catch up with classmates.

After finishing the course, Hoang Anh shared: "I am grateful for the financial support of the Erasmus+ program, the international cooperation between the two universities, the encouragement and facilitation of the teachers. in the Department of International Business for students' further steps, and grateful for the opportunity to share this special journey of theirs before graduation, both in terms of academic exchange or cultural exchange. For me, this journey is an experience that can change the life, vision and future orientation of any young person. Each young person will have their own long journey: away from home, far from my friends, from the country where I grew up, and away from the familiar. I hope that when the epidemic situation is over, more and more next generation of students will take advantage of this rare opportunity. to make a real difference in your future life and career."
