A SURPRISING VISIT OF FACULTY OF TOURISM’S BOARD TO PHU QUOC ISLANDS, KIEN GIANG

In the past 2 days, 23th and 24th February, representatives of the FOT’s board, including Dr. Vo Thi Quynh Nga – Dean of FOT and MSc. Nguyen Thi Hai Duong – Vice Dean, who is in charge of the graduation internship period 2020-2021, had a trip to Phu Quoc to cooperate with Vinpearl Phu Quoc on the student internship program (including internship graduation and occupational skill courses), and acknowledge about student’s lives and activities of 52 apprentices here. This trip had an vital meaning in promoting the cooperation relationship between Vinpearl Phu Quoc and the Faculty of Tourism, University of Economics - University of Danang; and simultaneously; cheering and encouraging the spirit of the students who are practicing here during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On behalf of the Faculty of Tourism, Dr. Vo Thi Quynh Nga thanked sincerely Vinpearl Phu Quoc for the caring and close guidance of the supervisors to our students. Besides, the living conditions of the trainees such as the modern dormitory system or the food service were prepared thoroughly. To her, it was not the first time coming to the beautiful island, it was the first time that FOT’s lecturers experienced the service supplied by their own students. Not only the surprise but also the pride made her recognized that the senior students had really grown up.

During this trip, the Faculty of Tourism continued to inquiry the demands of VinOasis Phu Quoc’s internship for occupational skill courses as well as that of employees after the first successful session in the summer of 2020. Mr. Tu informed that the peak season in Phu Quoc was from October to April of the next year so FOT could be more proactive in arranging suitable time for students.

Although the graduation internship encountered many difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the spirit and enthusiasm of students could not be defeated. The FOT hoped that the opportunity to working here would help the students become more confident, and it would be a good foundation to enhance their capacity in the future.
