The building that houses ICMS was originally St. Patrick’s Seminary. It has stood in a commanding position overlooking Manly and its surroundings for more than a century. Construction of the College began in June 1885. Gothic in style with a Spanish flavour, the College stands four storeys high with a central bell tower with the entire estate covering 20 hectares of parkland. St Patrick’s has produced many outstanding leaders. Those who have served the Australian community with great distinction include Cardinals Gilroy, Freeman, Cassidy and Clancy along with 41 bishops. Australia’s Prime Minister, Tony Abbot was a student of St. Patrick’s Seminary. St Patrick’s College is now a centre for excellence of a different kind.
