ICOAF 2018 - international conference on accounting and finance

On the afternoon of June 7, 2018, the 4th International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICOAF 2018) was officially commenced at Pullman Danang Beach Resort with the participation of scholars, international presenters, representatives from the University of Danang, the University of Economics, co-organizers, sponsors and lecturers. This conference was co-organized by the University of Economics - University of Da Nang, the Institute of Global Finance (IGF) of the University of New South Wales (Australia), Aston University (UK), and Massey University (New Zealand).

In the opening remarks, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan - Rector of the University of Economics - University of Danang emphasized that "ICOAF is an opportunity for scholars, lecturers, experts in and outside the country to exchange, discuss real challenges and seek solutions. For the University of Economics, the conference is a valuable opportunity to promote scientific research activities of lecturers and students and to learn from the world-leading scholars in the field of Finance – Accounting. Also, this enables us to share the academic and cultural experience and strengthen the relationship between the university and its partners".

ICOAF 2018 has received a total of 85 articles by local and international academics, especially world-leading scholars in Finance - Accounting. The conference has also attracted many experts and scholars from prestigious universities such as University of California - Los Angeles (USA); Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Chinese University (Hong Kong, China); Monash University, RMIT University (Australia); Massey University, University of Auckland, Victoria-Wellington University (New Zealand); Aston University, Heriot-Watt University, NewCastle University (UK); University of Ghent (Belgium); CIT Institute of Technology (Ireland), etc. After a rigorous peer review process, the committee with the presence of the world-leading experts in the field of Finance - Accounting has selected 46 articles with outstanding academic quality to be presented at the conference

ICOAF 2018 is honored to have three distinguished keynote speakers: Professor Avanidhar (Subra) Subrahmanyam, Professor of Finance at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA, USA); Professor Mingyi Hung - Professor of Accounting at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong); and Professor Nuttawat Visaltanachoti - Professor of Finance, Director of Finance Programs at Massey University (New Zealand).

Young scholars: New factors at ICOAF 2018

Not only to bring together leading scholars, ICOAF is also a place to connect and a forum to share knowledge of young scholars around the world. This year, many presentations with the multi-dimensional perspective on Finance – Accounting by young scholars were very impressive. In addition, research topics will be commented for improvement, increasing the chance for articles by young scholars to be published in ISI/SCOPUS- indexed journals.

Best Paper Award for Cameron Truong and Xuan Hai Nguyen 

This year's Best Paper Award also honoured two young scholars from Monash University and Chinese University of Hong Kong, Cameron Truong (representative of Cameron Truong, Hannah Nguyen, Thanh Huynh) with the topic themed "Climate Risk: The Price of Drought "and Xuan Hai Nguyen with the topic "Supervisory Shopping in the Banking Sector: When is it Socially Desirable? ". It can be said that, from ICOAF, young scholars have the opportunity to show their capacity as well as play the leading role in research in Finance - Accounting.

Taking place on June 7th and 8th, ICOAF 2018 was highly appreciated by experts and scholars on the organizational scale and the quality of the articles. The sessions and discussions have taken place ebulliently with outstanding academic quality and a multi-dimensional and in-depth perspective in Finance - Accounting. Aiming to increase the scale and upgrade the level of the conference, the University of Economics - University of Danang and its co-organizers wish to create a professional academic forum for Finance - Accounting scholars around the world. The conference is also an opportunity to connect and exchange ideas between scholars, lecturers from national and international universities. Following the success of ICOAF 2018, the University of Economics - University of Danang aims to host the Conference on Marketing in the Connected Age (MICA 2018) on October 6, 2018.
