KICK-OFF CEREMONY - STARTUP RUNWAY CONTEST 2023: IDEAS ARE READY TO TAKE OFF

With the theme "Sustainable Agriculture - From Tradition to Innovation", the Startup idea contest - Startup Runway 2023 promises to be an explosive playground for startups in the agricultural sector. The journey of young people starting a business at Startup Runway 2023 began at the Kick-off Ceremony that took place on the afternoon of February 18. Attending the Kick-off ceremony on the guest side was the presence of Dr. Vu Thi Bich Hau – Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, MSc. Vo Duc Anh - Deputy Director of Da Nang Innovation Startup Support Center, Mr. Dinh Gia Anh Minh - Second Prize of Startup Runway 2021, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh - Head of Ahamove Representative Office in Da Nang; On the side of the University of Economics, there were Dr. Bui Huynh Nguyen - Deputy Head of Science & International Cooperation Department - Member of the Organizing Committee of the contest, Dr. Ngo Thi Khue Thu – Dean of Marketing faculty, MSc. Tran Dinh Long - Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and nearly 300 young people who are passionate about starting a business in Da Nang city.

Opening the Kick-off Ceremony, Dr. Bui Huynh Nguyen said that the University of Economics is a multidisciplinary university training institution, a leading research and consulting center for economic and management science transfer in the Central - Central Highlands region, always actively responding to, implementing, and replicating startup and innovation activities to students. Being held for the 8th time, Startup Runway has brought hundreds of startup ideas to light and realized many business ideas. The ideas at the contest really spread the entrepreneurial spirit of young people and brought many opportunities for investors to see the potential of many projects. Startup Runway 2023 with an attractive theme will be a place for young people to shine with unique ideas in the field of agriculture, contributing to the development of sustainable agriculture with innovative thinking in Vietnam.

Talking more about sustainable agriculture, Dr. Vu Thi Bich Hau also had very practical sharing about the reality of Vietnam's agriculture, the restructuring of agriculture as well as scientific and technological advances that have been changing the face of agriculture in Vietnam. Dr. Hau believes that with the orientation of applying scientific and technological advances to agriculture, combined with innovation in management model and diversification of marketing will be the core to develop sustainable agriculture. Dr. Hau hopes that young people who have the fastest access to science and technology, along with their startup ideas, will bring new winds to Startup Runway 2023 in particular and economic development - society in general. The representative of the Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also affirmed that they would support projects that bring practical effects and support connecting with the business community to realize and scale up the business idea after the competition.

At the networking section, many young people had an interesting exchange with Dr. Vu Thi Bich Hau, MSc. Tran Dinh Long and Mr. Dinh Gia Anh Minh. The guests shared about the start-up process and experiences when participating in the Startup Runway contest as well as some notes and answers about Startup Runway 2023. Start-up knowledge in the field of agriculture was also shared deeply by Dr. Vu Thi Bich Hau, as a premise for young people to start ideas at the contest. MSc. Tran Dinh Long and Mr. Dinh Gia Anh Minh have equipped the Startup Runway 2023 contestants with useful equipment in the process of forming ideas, building an effective team, and the milestones that candidates should note at competition.
