Promoting cooperative relationship with Savannakhet university

On the morning of March 20, 2019, the Mission of the University of Economics - University of Da Nang included: Assoc.Prof.PhD Dao Huu Hoa - Vice Rector - Chairman of Vietnam - Laos Association at the University of Economics; Assoc.Prof.PhD Vo Thi Thuy Anh - Vice Rector; Assoc.Prof.PhD Giang Thi Kim Lien - Deputy Head of Training Department - Danang University; Mr. Nguyen Van Nam - Representative of Da Nang city in the projects of investment and management cooperation in Laos and leaders of the Departments, Centers, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration Faculty visited Savannakhet University (SKU), Kaysone Phomvihane City, Savannakhet Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic. Representative welcoming the delegate included Assoc.Prof.PhD. Bounpong Keorodom - Rector of Savannakhet University, PhD. Sonlinhong Xaykosy - Vice Rector, PhD. Sitha Khemmarath - Vice Rector, Head of Business Administration Department, International Cooperation Department and faculty of Business Administration.

At the beginning of the meeting, SKU representatives welcomed the Mission of the University of Economics and gave an overview of Savannakhet University. Accordingly, SKU is one of four public universities of Laos, a multi-disciplinary university established in 2009 with a scale of training more than 4,000 students with more than 300 lecturers and staff. SKU has a mission to provide high quality human resources in the socio-economic development strategy of 3 provinces including Savannakhet, Khammouane and Bolikkhamxay of Laos.

Assoc.Prof.PhD Vo Thi Thuy Anh also introduced the history of formation, development, structure, training scale as well as outstanding achievements of the University of Economics in recent years. PhD. Doan Thi Lien Huong - Deputy Head of Training Department emphasized that graduate training is a strength of the University, and proposed a cooperation project of training between two universities for three master majors including: Management Economics, Development Economics and Business Administration. Promoting the development of post-graduate cooperation not only contributes to training high-quality human resources for Laos, but also marks a long-term strategic cooperation relationship between the two schools.

Assoc.Prof.PhD Bounpong Keorodom also agreed with the proposal of the representatives of the University of Economics and said that the university would continue to work closely with the Departments and Faculties related to the graduate training program to discuss details about the program. Besides, SKU will also visit the University of Economics to promote cooperation projects in the future.

Continuing the working session, the two universities talked about cooperation opportunities in the fields of lecturer and student exchange, scientific research cooperation, and organizing international scientific conferences. On this occasion, Assoc.Prof.PhD. Vo Thi Thuy Anh invited scientists of Savannakhet University to attend and write articles for two major scientific seminars: International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICOAF 2019) and Seminar on Business Administration (COMB 2019). At the meeting, representatives of the University of Economics also awarded two Master program scholarships to Savannakhet University.

In the afternoon of the same day, two parties had an intensive working session, relating to the design of training programs and training plans. The two sides agreed to implement the Master's degree in Economic Management first, then continue to open more Development Economics and Business Administration. The content relating to the training program, the contents of the subjects have been discussed and agreed upon. In the near future, the two parties will arrange the official signing ceremony and conduct the first training course.
