DUE’s Women of Distinction: Women on Their Own Journeys
16/10/2026

I believe that being a manager does not mean having to provide an answer to every problem at all times. What matters is knowing how to listen, weighing each decision carefully and being prepared to take responsibility for the choices one makes.
As Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and International Business, my work involves more than developing plans or resolving professional matters. It also means working alongside colleagues, finding ways for each person to make the most of their strengths and helping the team build a better learning environment for students. Some tasks proceed smoothly, while others require time and careful consideration to find the right direction.
As a woman, I also have concerns and responsibilities beyond work. Things do not always balance out as I would like. I believe we do not necessarily have to excel in every role at the same time. What matters is understanding what is meaningful to us, setting priorities and learning to share responsibilities when needed.
To me, a good team is not one in which everyone always agrees, but one where people can express their views, feel respected and work together towards a common goal.
Every October 20, as society pays greater tribute to women on Vietnamese Women’s Day, I also take time to reflect on myself as a woman, considering the expectations and responsibilities I carry towards both myself and the team. In seeking a balance of my own, I remind myself that everyone has different circumstances, makes different choices and follows a unique path. There is no need to be like anyone else; what matters is understanding what we want and persevering in what we believe is right.
I hope that each of us, whatever our position, can find fulfilment in our work, peace in our lives and people with whom we can share our experiences along the way.
