Promoting Educational Cooperation and Human Resource Development with UK Partners

The University of Economics - the University of Danang welcomed a delegation from the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, alongside representatives from UK educational and professional organizations, to discuss directions for cooperation in higher education, human resource development, and enhancing students’ professional competencies on the morning of July 10, 2026.
The delegation was led by Alexandra Smith, British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City. Attendees also included representatives from UK Export Finance covering Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Vietnam.
On the university side, Professor Dr. Le Van Huy, Rector, Associate Professor Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice Rector, as well as department leaders and faculty members with UK study experience attended the meeting.

In his remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh said: “This visit demonstrates the potential for expanding cooperation between the University of Economics and the British Consulate General and UK partners, especially in education, international business, finance, accounting, insurance, and professional skill development for students".

According to Associate Professor Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, with its vision to become a prestigious higher education institution in economics, management, and business, DUE is accelerating internationalization, improving training quality, and expanding its network of global partners to equip students with expertise, integration capabilities, and skills to meet the demands of the global labor market.
Speaking at the meeting, Alexandra Smith praised the university’s development orientation and affirmed that the UK would continue to be a long-term partner in training, research, skills development, and career connections, helping to expand learning and job opportunities for students.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on human resource development for the International Financial Centre (IFC) in Da Nang. Alexandra Smith praised DUE’s role in consulting for the IFC proposal and training high-quality personnel. Associate Professor Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh said the university has proactively developed training programs, short courses, and research activities in financial technology to meet IFC’s development needs.

A representative of ICAEW Vietnam confirmed continued collaboration with DUE in curriculum benchmarking, learning materials support, integration of international professional standards, and expanding internship and job opportunities for students. Both sides also discussed developing training programs in green finance, sustainable development, and boosting cooperation in research and teaching on the UK Common Law system to improve students’ global integration capabilities.
