Forging Cooperation with the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre in Training and Research

15/04/2026

On April 15, 2026, the University of Economics - The University of Danang held a working session with the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) to advance collaboration in training, scientific research, and practical linkages in the field of commercial dispute resolution.

Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh, Vice Rector of the University, underscored VIAC’s role in bridging theory and practice, while reaffirming the institution’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with professional organizations to enhance training quality. “Cooperation with VIAC will create opportunities for lecturers and students to gain deeper exposure to real-world dispute resolution, thereby improving professional capacity and adaptability to the labor market,” she said.

Sharing the University’s orientation, Dr. Hanh highlighted priorities for joint initiatives in both training and research.

Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh, President of VIAC, noted that as a leading arbitration institution in Vietnam, VIAC administers dispute resolution through arbitration, mediation and other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms in accordance with the law. In parallel, the Centre has stepped up academic cooperation, training, and awareness-raising efforts for the business community and practitioners. VIAC’s representative stressed the need to strengthen engagement with training institutions, particularly as commercial arbitration is increasingly chosen by businesses - especially foreign-invested enterprises - owing to its flexibility, speed and the finality of its awards. “We look forward to working alongside the University to train a workforce equipped with both knowledge and practical skills in dispute resolution, thereby contributing to the development of Vietnam’s ADR ecosystem,” Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh said.

Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh underscored the role of commercial arbitration in the context of global integration.

Both sides discussed key areas of cooperation in the coming period, including co-hosting scientific conferences and specialized seminars; providing expert input for curriculum development; organizing professional training courses for lecturers; and facilitating internships and practical exposure for students at VIAC. The two parties are also jointly organizing a scientific conference themed “Identifying and Resolving Disputes Among Enterprises in the New Era”.

The meeting featured active exchanges on training, research and practical engagement

The session marks an initial step toward establishing a formal partnership, with both sides aiming to sign a comprehensive cooperation agreement in the near future. This will provide an important legal framework for effectively implementing joint activities in training, research and practice-oriented engagement, contributing to improving the quality of legal and business human resources in the context of global integration.

Representatives of the two institutions also exchanged commemorative gifts, marking the beginning of their cooperation.
