23/01/2026

On January 23, 2026, the University of Economics - The University of Danang (DUE) welcomed a delegation from the University of Huddersfield (United Kingdom) to discuss and advance training and research cooperation models aligned with the context of international integration.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice President of the University, provided an overview of DUE’s academic strengths and training resources, highlighting that more than 80% of the reference materials currently in use originate from international sources. She also emphasized the role of DUE’s lecturers and experts in training programs, research activities, and international cooperation. These factors were identified as a solid foundation enabling DUE to engage confidently in joint training models with partners from the United Kingdom.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh introduced the University’s training strengths.

During the working session, the two sides focused on discussion, consultation, and proposals for specific cooperation directions, particularly joint training programs under the 2+1 and 2+2 models. Under these schemes, students would complete their first one to two years of study at DUE before continuing and completing their programs at the University of Huddersfield, where they would be awarded a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in accordance with the partner institution’s regulations.

Another key topic of discussion was the orientation toward developing training programs linked to the International Financial Centre (IFC) in Da Nang. Both sides shared perspectives on the role of education in the financial sector, career guidance, and the development of high-quality human resources for the region. Prof. Rupak Kharel, Vice President of the School of Computing and Engineering at the University of Huddersfield, highly valued Da Nang’s future potential and expressed interest in developing fintech curricula suitable for both Vietnamese learners and international students.

In addition, the two institutions exchanged views on in-depth academic content, including the application of linear elements in mathematics and statistics to support finance education and data analytics, with a view to ensuring the currency and practical relevance of training programs.

Prof. Rupak Kharel also shared his perspectives on the potential for training cooperation, particularly in the field of finance.

The meeting further addressed opportunities for expanded cooperation, including student exchange programs, faculty exchange, joint research initiatives, and the sharing of experience in academic management. Prof. Rupak Kharel expressed his readiness to invite founders, experts, and lecturers to participate in research activities and propose suitable development directions, thereby supporting the ecosystem of Viet Nam’s International Financial Centre in Da Nang. Both sides also encouraged the sharing of information, the writing of reflective articles, and the dissemination of the cooperation model to relevant educational institutions.

Regarding the feasibility of international training models in Viet Nam, the two sides discussed several issues such as tuition fees for international students, the practical value of joint programs, teaching human resources, student participation capacity, and facilities and dormitory conditions. Practical experience from the United Kingdom, where a large proportion of international students are enrolled, provided valuable insights for DUE in the process of designing and operating these programs.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue detailed discussions on short-term and long-term training programs, credit completion pathways, program duration (approximately three years for a bachelor’s degree), as well as scholarship opportunities for students in the coming period.
