COMBELT 2025 Workshop: An International Academic Forum Promoting Governance and Sustainable Development in the Digital Era

On the morning of August 1, 2025, the International Workshop on Corporate Governance, Business, Economics, Law, and Technology (COMBELT 2025) officially commenced at the University of Economics - University of Da Nang, marking a significant academic event in the series of activities celebrating the university’s 50th anniversary.
The workshop was co-organized with partner universities, including Babeș-Bolyai University (Romania), Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Kalasin University (Thailand), University of Liège (Belgium), National Economics University (Vietnam), National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan), Southern Leyte State University (Philippines), University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), University of Economics - University of Hue (Vietnam), and Yuan Ze University (Taiwan).
Associate Professor Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh, Chairwoman of the University Council, presented flowers and commemorative medals to the co-organizing institutions.

In her opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Đoàn Ngọc Phi Anh, Vice Rector of the University, emphasized the special significance of the workshop: “COMBELT 2025 is not only an academic forum but also a significant milestone in the 50-year development journey of the University of Economics. We hope the workshop will foster vibrant discussions, create collaboration opportunities, and generate practical solutions to promote sustainable development in a rapidly changing global context".

COMBELT 2025 attracted over 200 scholars with more than 150 papers presented by experts and researchers in economics from various universities, institutes, and organizations, both domestic and international. A highlight of COMBELT 2025 was the participation of two distinguished keynote speakers in the fields of Marketing and Digital Governance: Professor Ralf Schellhase from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and Professor Nicolae Urs, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences at Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca (Romania).
At the plenary session, the two keynote speakers presented:
- Professor Ralf Schellhase (Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, Germany) delivered a paper titled “International Cooperation in Higher Education for Sustainable Development".
- Professor Nicolae Urs (Babeș-Bolyai University, Romania) presented a paper titled “Comparative Practices in Public Governance and Digital Transformation in Local Administration".

International and domestic delegates engaged in lively discussions.
During 25 parallel discussion sessions, delegates focused on two key objectives:
- Promoting applied research and innovation in governance, circular economy, digital economy, and supporting businesses to effectively adapt to legal and technological changes in the context of globalization and digital transformation.
- Inspiring entrepreneurship and fostering collaboration between research institutions, universities, and the business community to enhance knowledge transfer and the practical application of research outcomes.

The workshop concluded with the Best Paper Award ceremony for groups of authors with outstanding research:
- Author Tran Thang Long with the paper “Digital Assets in the International Investment Legal Framework: Challenges and Solutions for Vietnam.”
- Authors Chau Thi Da Huong and Le Dien Tuan with the paper “From Black-Box to Glass-Box: Explainable Deep Learning for Credit Risk Prediction.”
- Authors Truong Thi Phuong Anh and Pham Ngoc Duy with the paper “Linking Servant Leadership to Frugal Innovation: The Role of Corporate Social Responsibility and Perceived Organizational Support".
The organizing committee presented the Best Paper Awards to groups with outstanding research at COMBELT 2025.
COMBELT 2025 created academic value by providing opportunities for research publication in prestigious international journals on governance, business, economics, law, and technology, as well as publishing proceedings with an ISBN index. The workshop also offered practical recommendations for Vietnamese businesses in areas such as digital marketing, sustainable finance, circular economy, smart tourism, and technology governance. More importantly, the workshop contributed to enhancing Vietnam’s academic standing and research capacity through strengthened international cooperation with leading experts and scholars in marketing, business law, and e-governance.
