Conference on the Implementation of Online General Courses at the University of Danang

On the morning of June 3, the University of Economics – The University of Danang hosted a Conference on the Implementation of Online Teaching for General Courses across the University of Danang. The conference aimed to discuss and unify directions for implementing modern, flexible, and effective online teaching methods for general courses, aligning with the transformative goals of higher education amid rapid digital transformation.

Attending the conference were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the University of Danang, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac – Vice President, along with department leaders and specialists from various administrative units. The event also welcomed the participation of leaders from member universities under the University of Danang, including Vice Rectors, Heads of Training Departments, Heads of Testing and Quality Assurance, Directors of Learning Resource Centers, IT representatives, and units such as the UDN Campus in Kon Tum, the Vietnam–UK Institute for Research and Executive Education, and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

In the context of educational reform and the robust digital transformation trend, the Blended Learning model, combining online and face-to-face instruction, has been increasingly recognized for its effectiveness in improving training quality. This approach offers flexibility in time and location, enhances student autonomy and self-study capacity, and supports instructors in tailoring content for more effective teaching.

With approximately 15,000 students enrolled in general education modules each year, the implementation of Blended Learning for two key course groups, namely basic english and political education, is both essential and urgent. It not only improves training quality but also optimizes resource utilization, enhances the use of infrastructure, and elevates the overall learning experience for students across the entire system.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac – Vice President of the University of Danang, expressed his hope to receive numerous constructive and practical suggestions through presentations and open dialogue. He emphasized the importance of insights from lecturers and administrators directly involved in the teaching and management of the targeted course groups to ensure effective and practical implementation across the University.

- “Current status of online education at Vietnamese universities” by Dr. Tran Dinh Khoi Quoc - Head of the Training and Quality Assurance Department, UDN.

- “Implementation of political theory modules” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh - Vice Rector of the University of Economics.

- “Implementing training combined with A2 level English course” by Dr. Huynh Ngoc Mai Kha - Vice Rector of the University of Foreign Languages.

- “The role and capacity of the Center in supporting online teaching” by Dr. Ho Van Hung - Acting Director of the Center for IT and Digital Learning Resources.

- “Online teaching solutions for digital transformation in education” by Dr. Nguyen Thi Van - Project Manager, Khoa Tri Co., Ltd.

Delegates present expert reports

During the discussion sessions, participants engaged in open and constructive dialogues on practical challenges in implementing online general courses through the Blended Learning model. Many emphasized the need to standardize digital learning materials, ensure technological compatibility across platforms, and enhance lecturers’ capacity for IT integration in the new teaching landscape.

In his concluding remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu stressed the importance of digital transformation in higher education and reaffirmed the University of Danang’s strong commitment to accelerating the implementation of the Blended Learning model. He called on all units to promptly develop specific plans and work collaboratively to ensure both the quality and pace of implementation, thereby delivering a more modern and effective learning experience for students.
