Which documents are needed for a complete application as an exchange student?
Check with your home institution about the requirements of the exchange program. We accept only students nominated by their home institution. After being nominated, applicants need to prepare the application files with the following documents:
(1) UE-UD application form (Download here)
(2) Academic Transcript
(3) Copy of passport
(4) Studentship certificate issued by home university
(5) English Language Certificate (IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 65 or equivalent)
(6) Learning Agreement or Training Agreement (Only for Eramus students)
Upon the arrival, please bring the hard copies of the above documents and following papers with you to the International Relations Office for the enrollment:
(1) Passport, copy of passport
(2) 02 passport sized photos
(3) General Medical/Health Certificate (issued by a hospital, if applicable)
(4) Health insurance for international students (we will help you to get health insurance upon arrival)
(5) Certificate of financial resources
What is a Learning Agreement?
ERASMUS students are expected to complete a learning agreement to be signed by them, their home university and the host instituion. The learning agreement is an informal contract to be completed before the study period starts which indicates precisely what modules will be studied. Subsequent modifications are permitted as long as they are agreed by all parties concerned.
Does the UE-UD provide an accommodation for exchange student?
On-campus housing is available at UE-UD. Our international service will help students to find housing and roommates.
For off-campus housing, please contact our international service for advice.
International students should arrive one week before the orientation day in order to complete administrative forms and arrange accommodations.
Where do I find information about timetables, courses and certain modules?
Please check our website for courses that offered in English at here. Once you are enrolled at our institution, you will be provided with access to the timetables.
What are the deadlines that I need to observe?
Application deadlines:
April 15–May 15 for applications for the fall semester (same year)
October 01–November 01 for applications for the spring semester (following year)
Do I need a Visa?
International students must hold a passport which is valid for at least 12 months beyond the initial entry date to Vietnam.
International students must apply for a Student Visa in their home country. The UE-UD’s international service will work with the home university to facilitate the visa application for the students.
What type of health insurance do I need?
According to Vietnam legislation students are required to keep sufficient health insurance. UE-UD will help you to get health insurance upon arrival.
How long will it take to get an answer after sending my application documents?
Upon receiving a complete application form, we will start to process your application with our colleagues from the respective faculties. The length of the evaluation process may vary from department to department. Once the departmental evaluation process is concluded you will be informed via e-mail (within 2 weeks after deadlines).
Can I apply even if my university doesn’t have a partner agreement with UE-UD?
Admission is not possible without partner agreement.
When does the academic year start?
The academic year consists of two terms. The winter autumn term usually runs from the mid of August to the end of December and the winter term from the January to the mid of May.
Is it important to be able to speak Vietnamese?
Most of our courses are offered in Vietnamese with a number of courses delivered in English for the high quality program classes (Please visit here for the list of English courses). To be able to enroll in those English-speaking classes, you need good knowledge of the English (IELTS 5.5. or equivalent).
If you intend to follow Vietnamese course, a certificate (B2) is needed.
However, being able to speak and understand Vietnamese will certainly helpful.
