DUE Students Strengthen Digital Citizenship and Learn to Guard Against Online Risks

On October 23, 2026, as part of the orientation and civic education programme for the university’s 52K student cohort, The University of Danang - University of Economics, held a legal awareness session on conduct in digital environments, the prevention of online abuse and responses to cyberbullying. The programme aimed to equip students with the knowledge and self-protection skills needed to navigate online platforms safely and responsibly.

Joining students at the session, Senior Lieutenant Colonel and Master’s degree holder Nguyen Hung Loi, Deputy Head of the Internal Political Security Division of the Da Nang City Police, shared legal knowledge and practical guidance on digital conduct. Key topics included identifying harmful and malicious information, recognising online scams, protecting personal data and accounts, and responding appropriately to online abuse and cyberbullying.

The session placed particular emphasis on individual responsibility for the information people consume and disseminate. Verifying sources before sharing content, thinking carefully before commenting and respecting others in online interactions are practical steps towards fostering a civilised digital environment. For students, legal awareness also provides a foundation for making informed decisions about online conduct and avoiding actions that could harm themselves or the wider community.

The programme also highlighted risks that can arise from routine online activities, including clicking on links from unknown sources, providing data to untrustworthy accounts and sharing unverified content. Staying alert and knowing how to protect personal information must therefore become regular practices in students’ academic work, communication and daily lives.

Through such awareness-raising activities, the University of Economics, The University of Danang, continues to place emphasis on linking legal education with issues affecting students in practice. The programme also strengthens coordination between the university and Da Nang City Police in preventing violations and helping maintain a safe and healthy educational environment.
