Official Opening of External Assessment Survey for Institutional Quality Accreditation

On Oct. 2, 2026, the University of Economics - The University of Danang, in cooperation with the Center for Education Accreditation - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, officially opened the external assessment survey for the institution’s third accreditation cycle.
Attending the opening ceremony, the Center for Education Accreditation - Vietnam National University, Hanoi was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Toan, Deputy Director of the Center and Chairman of the Education Accreditation Council, who is also a member of the External Assessment Team.
The External Assessment Team was led by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, former Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, as Head of the External Assessment Team. Other members include Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Quang, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Que Anh, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien, Dr. Tran Huu Luong, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hang and Ms. Pham Vu Minh Anh, MA.
Representing The University of Danang was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan, Vice President of The University of Danang, and Dr. Nguyen Quang Vu, Deputy Head of the Department of Academic Affairs and Educational Quality Assurance. Representing the University of Economics was Prof. Dr. Le Van Huy - Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University, together with members of the Board of Presidents and representatives of the leadership of the University’s departments, faculties and centers.
Prof. Dr. Le Van Huy, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University of Economics, said the University regards building a quality culture, developing its internal quality assurance system and participating in quality accreditation as key priorities in its development strategy.

According to Prof. Dr. Le Van Huy, quality assurance activities have been progressively systematized and strengthened in recent years. Self-assessment and quality improvement have been conducted regularly at both the institutional and academic programme levels, helping to strengthen awareness of and responsibility for quality across the University.

Speaking at the opening of the official survey, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Toan provided an overview of the education accreditation processes that have been conducted with the University of Economics - The University of Danang in recent years. According to the Center for Education Accreditation, accreditation is not only a tool for assessing the current quality of an institution but also plays an important role in assuring and promoting continuous improvement in education quality, contributing to the planning and development of the higher education institution network.

Ahead of the official survey, the University of Economics conducted its third-cycle institutional self-assessment in accordance with the standards issued under Circular No. 12/2017 by the Ministry of Education and Training. The University reviewed its activities, collected and analyzed supporting evidence, identified achievements and shortcomings, and outlined areas requiring further improvement. It completed its self-assessment report and supporting documentation while taking the necessary steps to prepare for the official survey.
Over four working days, from Oct. 2 to Oct. 5, 2026, the External Assessment Team will review documents, inspect and survey the University’s facilities, and conduct interviews with relevant stakeholder groups, including managers, lecturers, researchers, support staff, students, alumni and employers. The survey provides an opportunity for the University of Economics to review its quality improvement process since the previous assessment cycle and receive objective observations and recommendations from the experts.
Established in 1975, the University of Economics - The University of Danang currently has 464 staff and employees and more than 15,000 students, graduate students and doctoral candidates. It offers 19 undergraduate programmes, eight master’s programmes and four doctoral programmes. The University said it has educated and supplied more than 70,000 graduates, as well as thousands of master’s and doctoral graduates, to society over more than five decades of development.
The University received institutional quality accreditation for its second cycle in 2022. To date, 12 academic programmes have been accredited under AUN-QA standards, while 14 programmes have been accredited under the educational quality standards issued pursuant to Circular No. 04/2016 of the Ministry of Education and Training. Alongside this process, awareness of and responsibility for quality have gradually spread across the University, while its internal quality assurance system has continued to be strengthened and improved.
During the assessment, the University has committed to providing complete, accurate and timely information, documents and supporting evidence required by the assessment team, while working closely with the Center for Education Accreditation - Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the External Assessment Team to ensure that the process is conducted objectively, effectively and according to schedule.
