AI Application Contest Supports Building Ba Na Smart Commune

On the afternoon of July 30, 2026, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ba Na Commune and the People’s Committee of Ba Na Commune, in collaboration with the University of Economics - The University of Danang, organized the final round of the “AI in Economics - DUETech AI Contest 2026” with the theme “Ba Na SmartLink - AI Platform Connecting Smart Village-Commune Data.”
The contest aimed to foster creativity, scientific research, and technological application skills among students in addressing practical local challenges. It also contributed to promoting digital transformation, building digital government and society, and advancing the goal of developing a smart Ba Na Commune.
The event was attended by Phung Nhat Tuyen, Member of the Executive Committee of the City Youth Union, Deputy Head of the Youth Affairs Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Student Association; Dr. Huynh Minh Son, Deputy Head of the Student Affairs, Business Relations and Communications Committee, University of Danang; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice Rector of the University of Economics - The University of Danang; Phan Van Ton, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Ba Na Commune; Bui Nam Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Ba Na Commune; and Le Minh Tuan, Party Committee Member and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ba Na Commune.
Also in attendance were representatives of various departments and organizations of Ba Na Commune; leaders of units under the University of Danang; leaders of faculties, offices, centers, lecturers from the University of Economics - The University of Danang; as well as a large number of youth union members, students, competing teams, and contest sponsors.
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice Rector of the University of Economics - The University of Danang, emphasized the importance of connecting education and scientific research with real-life societal needs. Through the contest, students had the opportunity to apply their expertise, foster innovative thinking, conduct research, and propose technological solutions to serve the community, thereby accelerating digital transformation at the local level.

In his remarks, Bui Nam Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Ba Na Commune, highly appreciated the coordination between Ba Na Commune and the University of Economics - The University of Danang in organizing the contest. He noted that this was a meaningful activity, creating opportunities for students’ intelligence and creativity to be connected with the practical needs of the locality.

Following the implementation of the two-level local government model, Ba Na Commune now covers a large area with an increasing volume of managed information and data. The research and application of artificial intelligence in data management, report synthesis, and information connection between villages and the commune will help improve government operations, reduce processing time, and enhance public service quality. Bui Nam Dung expressed his hope that the University of Economics - The University of Danang would continue to accompany the locality in research and technology transfer, contributing to the development of a smart, modern Ba Na Commune.
Based on practical needs, the Organizing Committee selected the theme “Ba Na SmartLink - AI Platform Connecting Smart Village-Commune Data” as the contest’s focus. In the final round, eight teams presented AI application projects and solutions to support local management and administration. Teams focused on clarifying key aspects of their projects, including: the context and current situation; research objectives; AI application solutions; system operation processes; standout features; demo products; practical deployment potential; expected socio-economic benefits; and solution development and expansion directions.
The contest entries showcased serious research investment and the ability of students to apply their expertise to solve practical problems, particularly in areas such as data connectivity, report synthesis support, information analysis, and enhancing management and public service efficiency. The judging panel highly valued the creativity, feasibility, and application potential of the proposed solutions.
As part of the event, the Youth Union of the University of Economics - The University of Danang handed over the “Ba Na Commune Digital Tourism Map” to the locality. This digital product aims to introduce and promote local destinations, cultural and historical values, natural landscapes, and specialty products of Ba Na Commune, supporting locals and tourists in easily accessing tourism information via digital platforms.
At the conclusion of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded First Prize to the AIconomics team; Second Prize to the Ca Hoi team; Third Prize to the 5X team; and consolation prizes to other outstanding teams.
The “AI in Economics - DUETech AI Contest 2026” was not only a valuable academic playground for students but also an effective bridge between the university and the locality in scientific research, technology transfer, and innovation. The contest further promoted the pioneering and creative role of youth in digital transformation, contributing to building digital government, society, and citizens, and moving towards the goal of developing a smart, modern, and sustainable Ba Na Commune.
