DUE Faculty Member Shares Insights at Vietnam Financial Forum 2026

10/07/2026

On the afternoon of July 9, 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Huu Man - Head of Training, University of Economics - delivered a presentation titled "Building an International Financial Talent Hub: The Role of Universities" at the Vietnam Financial Forum 2026 (VFF 2026) in Da Nang.

Held over two days, VFF 2026 is a high-level event gathering more than 350 policymakers, experts, international financial organizations, corporations, businesses, and investors from Vietnam and abroad, aiming to promote the development of Vietnam’s financial ecosystem and the International Financial Centre in Da Nang.

In his presentation, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Huu Man highlighted the role of universities in developing human resources for the International Financial Centre. He stressed that an international financial centre is built not only on infrastructure, policy, or capital flows, but also, and crucially, on human capacity - especially a workforce able to operate in an international financial environment and skilled in technology, law, risk management, sustainable finance, and global professional standards. The presentation emphasized that, while Vietnam has a growing talent pool and higher education system, the challenge for VIFC-DN is not only the scale of its workforce, but the depth and readiness for global integration. Priority competencies include international finance, FinTech, digital finance, financial compliance and legal, ESG, carbon markets, supply chain finance, risk management, and professional services supporting financial centres.

From a higher education perspective, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Huu Man argued that universities must shift from simply “providing graduates” to “building market capabilities”. This requires institutions to innovate curricula, develop short-term and micro-credentials, intensify practical training, and expand partnerships with banks, investment funds, FinTech firms, law firms, auditing and consulting companies, and international professional organizations. At the same time, universities should become more involved in applied research, policy consulting, and supporting the development of a talent ecosystem for VIFC-DN.

He also proposed a “talent hub” model for VIFC-DN, in which universities, local authorities, businesses, regulators, and professional organizations collaborate to identify skill needs, design training programs, implement internship models such as Co-Op, establish labs for digital finance, FinTech, and ESG, and develop internationally standardized learning pathways. The key message: Da Nang should not only produce more financial professionals, but build a highly skilled workforce ready to operate the core functions of an international financial centre.

The contributions of the University of Economics at VFF 2026 further affirm its standing as a reputable centre for training, research, and policy consulting, supporting Da Nang in building an International Financial Centre. Through research, business partnerships, and high-quality human resource development, the university is laying the knowledge and talent foundation for Da Nang to become a regional financial destination.
