In early January 2026, the Vietnam International Financial Centre in Da Nang was officially inaugurated, marking the formal launch of the IFC model in Vietnam in accordance with Government Decree No. 323/ND-CP dated December 18, 2025. According to Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the IFC Executive Council Nguyen Hoa Binh, the development of the IFC is a major policy of the Party and the State, aimed at unlocking resources, promoting the transformation of the growth model, restructuring the economy, and enhancing national productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness. This effort contributes to ushering the country into a new era of development an era of prosperity, strength, civilization, and happiness. Within the strategic vision of “one centre, two destinations,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized Da Nang’s particularly important role, given its geo-economic advantages, gateway access to the open sea, modern digital infrastructure, and dynamic, open governance. Associate Professor Dr. Dang Tung Lam (Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Economic Science - University of Economics; Deputy Director in charge of the Strategy and Synthesis Division, Executive Authority of the Vietnam International Financial Centre in Da Nang) noted that Da Nang possesses many advantages to become a regional financial centre, including its geographical proximity to major Asian financial hubs, synchronized infrastructure, and a dynamic, innovation-ready business community. In particular, the orientation toward developing a Free Trade Zone is viewed as a strategic foundation for expanding the space for international financial and trade development.

According to the University of Economics, to enhance human resources for the IFC, the University not only emphasizes on-campus academic training but also promotes the Cooperative Education (Co-Op) model. Under this model, students alternate between academic study at the University and supervised internships at enterprises, banks, and financial institutions. The Co-Op model helps narrow the gap between training and practice, enhancing graduates’ ability to be “job-ready” immediately after graduation.

In addition, DUE places strong emphasis on short-term training and capacity-building programs commissioned for officials and civil servants from departments and agencies, as well as state and enterprise managers directly involved in operating the IFC and FTZ in Da Nang. These programs focus on topics such as issues related to international financial centres, sustainable finance, financial technology, trade finance and supply chain financing, international commercial law, digital transformation in management and business, and leadership and governance skills in the digital environment.

After its establishment, the Executive Authority of the International Financial Centre in Da Nang has completed its organizational structure and issued foundational regulations on functions, responsibilities, working procedures, and recruitment plans under policies to attract high-quality human resources.
