The University of Economics welcomes the UK Skills Partnership Expert Delegation, promoting cooperation in green finance training

On January 8, 2026, the University of Economics - University of Danang welcomed the UK Skills Partnership Expert Delegation to promote international cooperation in human resource development for a sustainable economic transition.
The UK delegation included Ms. Jane Rexworthy, Chair of the UK Skills Partnership; Mr. Matt Bungay from the University of London; Mr. Kenny Siu, Regional Director of the Chartered Insurance Institute; Ms. Doan Huong Giang, Trade Manager (Education and Training) at the British Embassy in Hanoi; and Ms. Ho Thi Kim Phuong, Trade Manager (Education and Training) at the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
Representing the University of Economics - University of Danang were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice Rector, together with leaders of the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Science and International Cooperation, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Tung Lam, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Economic Science.
At the meeting, both sides exchanged views and held consultations on key components of the Green Finance Skills and Vocational Education Project in Vietnam, aiming to identify workforce development needs and opportunities to co-design short-term training programs in the form of micro-credentials to address emerging priorities in green finance.

In the context of Viet Nam’s accelerating transition toward a low-carbon and sustainable economy, policies such as the Green Taxonomy, ESG disclosure requirements, and carbon market mechanisms are expected to significantly increase demand for professional competencies across government agencies, financial institutions, and educational institutions.
The UK Skills Partnership Expert Delegation shared insights into the Green Finance Skills Project and cooperation opportunities in Viet Nam.
Discussions clarified the current workforce readiness, existing skills gaps, and the relevance of existing training programs to evolving market needs. Both sides also explored implementation models, cooperation modalities, and the possibility of piloting training programs and micro-credentials in the near future.
The consultation outcomes are expected to contribute to mapping emerging job roles and competencies, developing training concepts aligned with real business needs, and proposing pilot micro-credential programs through close collaboration between partners in Viet Nam and the United Kingdom.
