Opening Ceremony of the 7th Sports Festival for Officials and Employees of the University of Danang - 2025: Shining the Sports Spirit of DUE Officials and Employees

On the morning of May 10, the Opening Ceremony of the 7th Sports Festival for Officials and Employees of the University of Danang (UDN) in 2025 took place at the UDN Urban Area (University of Information and Communication Technology – Vietnam-Korea, UDN).
Attending the Opening Ceremony were Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of UDN, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Festival; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Phuc - Vice Chairman of the UDN Council and President of the UDN Trade Union; representatives of sponsoring units; offices and functional departments of UDN.
Also present were representatives of the leadership from UDN member universities and affiliated units; grassroots trade unions; media reporters; the Organizing Committee along with all athletes, coordinators, coaches, referees, and supporters from the 09 sports delegations under UDN. From the University of Economics, there were Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh - Vice Rector, President of the University Trade Union, and a large number of coordinators and athletes participating in the festival.
In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of UDN, emphasized that this is a traditional sports event of UDN, organized biennially to create opportunities for staff to meet, exchange, learn from one another, strengthen solidarity and mutual understanding, and build a more developed UDN. The festival is a "playground" for healthy sports practice, contributing to the enhancement of spiritual and cultural life for staff throughout UDN. It is also an opportunity to identify and foster key individuals in the sports movement at the member institutions and units.

Notably, this year’s festival has practical significance in contributing to the celebratory atmosphere for the Party Congresses of member universities and affiliated units, leading up to the 7th Party Congress of UDN for the 2025–2030 term; commemorating major national anniversaries such as the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (1975–2025) and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (1890–2025); and in response to the campaign “All people exercise following the example of the great Uncle Ho.” UDN leaders extended their best wishes to all sports delegations, coordinators, coaches, athletes, Organizing Committee members, referees, and support staff from various institutions, hoping for a meaningful, united sports festival with the spirit of “Healthy to contribute, healthy to build and develop a stronger UDN.”

The festival runs from May 10 to June 15, 2025, featuring 07 sports and 08 competition categories: running, men's football, men's volleyball, women's soft volleyball, badminton, table tennis, pickleball, and Chinese chess. Prior to the opening ceremony, the running event was held for the first time within the UDN Urban Area, attracting 425 athletes. This vibrant opening activity spread the spirit of sports and health training to all staff and employees. In this event, athletes Le Trung Hieu and Le Thi Ngoc Hoa excellently brought home 02 silver medals in the men’s 3000m and women’s 2000m events, marking the first medals for the University of Economics' sports delegation at the festival.
