Dr. Pisa Vongsila - A Shining Example of Dedication to Learning and Contribution

Throughout his academic journey at the University of Economics - The University of Danang (DUE), newly conferred Doctor Pisa Vongsila has consistently strived to expand his knowledge, enhance his expertise, and contribute valuable research to the academic community. His pursuit of knowledge reflects unwavering determination and devotion to education. The achievements he has attained today are not only a personal milestone but also a source of pride for the university he has been a part of, inspiring future generations of students and researchers to nurture their passion for knowledge and reach new heights.
Driven by a passion for research and the desire to apply academic knowledge to practical management, Pisa Vongsila chose to pursue a Ph.D. in Business Administration (course K39) at DUE, making it the place where he would realize his doctoral aspirations. He shared, “I had heard of the university’s reputation for high-quality education from various sources, including Lao alumni who had studied here before.”

During his studies, Dr. Pisa Vongsila overcame language barriers and significant challenges, especially those posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. With the dedicated support of professors, Ph.D. advisors, and faculty members, he successfully completed his research program, published scientific papers, and defended his dissertation.
For his doctoral dissertation, Pisa Vongsila focused on the field of tourism. He recognized that while tourism is a vital economic sector, Laos needs to enhance the competitiveness of its destinations to fully capitalize on its potential. His dissertation developed a model for evaluating the competitiveness of tourist destinations with a sustainable development approach, providing strategic guidance for investment and management in Laos' tourism sector.
Expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the university, faculty members, and friends at DUE who accompanied him throughout his academic journey, Dr. Pisa Vongsila also affirmed his commitment to applying his acquired knowledge to practical management, contributing to the development of Laos and strengthening the Laos-Vietnam friendship.
Before coming to Vietnam for his Ph.D. studies, he served as Deputy Head of the General Affairs Department in the Office of Savannakhet Province. He has since been reassigned to a grassroots unit, now holding the position of District Party Committee Member and Deputy Chief of the Office of Sepon District, Savannakhet Province, Laos. Sepon District shares a border with Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri Province, Vietnam. He believes that "Pursuing a Ph.D. in Business Administration will help me advance my career, contribute to Laos' development, and adapt to today's rapidly changing management environment." He deeply values the special bond between Laos and Vietnam, as well as his unforgettable experiences studying and living in Da Nang.
