Over nearly three decades of impressive development, Da Nang has evolved into a modern urban area with well-integrated infrastructure, a high-quality service economy, and advanced technology industries. These achievements result from the relentless creativity and innovation of city leaders and residents, forming a strong foundation for Da Nang to build competitive advantages and ensure sustainable development.
To further strengthen and enhance its competitiveness, Da Nang aims to become a modern, livable city and a leading socio-economic hub in the Asia-Pacific region by 2030. To support this journey, DUE developed the 2024 Annual Report with the theme: "Da Nang City - Improving Competitiveness for Sustainable Development." The report was completed after more than five months of research, providing a comprehensive assessment of the city's current competitiveness and prioritizing key policy directions.
The 2024 Annual Report identifies seven critical strategic orientations:
- Developing Da Nang into a world-class city, integrating Vietnamese cultural identity with a "green and livable city" brand.
- Restructuring the economy with a focus on high-quality services, digital technology, and highly skilled human resource development.
- Establishing and developing the Da Nang Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and the Regional International Financial Center.
- Strengthening regional connectivity and international integration.
- Advancing high-tech industries and Industry 4.0.
- Modernizing institutions and promoting sustainable development through administrative reforms and special mechanisms.
- Promoting green economic development and climate change adaptation, prioritizing renewable energy and eco-friendly solutions.
The speakers and scientists exchanged ideas, discussed, and contributed many insightful opinions.
The seminar served as a platform for scientists, policymakers, and researchers to engage in in-depth discussions and analyses of Da Nang's competitiveness across three key pillars: economic positioning, business resources, and institutional frameworks. Discussions focused on core areas such as urban development, high technology, investment in trained human resources, logistics, and financial services, all aligned with Da Nang’s vision of becoming a world-class urban center and a regional international financial hub. The insights from the seminar contribute to strategic recommendations and effective policy orientations for city departments and the Da Nang People's Committee.
The report provides valuable guidance for policymakers to concretize the goals outlined in Da Nang’s 2021-2030 Urban Development Plan and the National Assembly's Resolution 136, setting the course for the city’s long-term growth.
During the development of the "Annual Report on the Economic Situation of Da Nang City in 2024," DUE received invaluable support from the Da Nang Statistics Office. As a token of appreciation, the university presented flowers to the agency’s representatives during the seminar.
