Summary of Activities for the 2023-2024 Academic Year by the University Emulation Bloc in Da Nang City

On the afternoon of July 31, the University Emulation Bloc in Da Nang City held a conference to summarize the activities of the 2023-2024 academic year. The University of Economics - University of Da Nang, as the Bloc Leader, and the Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy, as the Bloc Deputy Leader, chaired the conference. The conference was attended by Ms. Do Thi Nguyet Minh, Standing Member of the City’s Council for Emulation and Commendation and Head of the Emulation and Commendation Department of Da Nang City, along with representatives from 11 universities within the Emulation Bloc in Da Nang City.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh, Vice Rector of the University of Economics - University of Da Nang, noted that the summary conference was an opportunity for members of the bloc to understand the situation of the universities within the bloc, review the collaborative efforts of the 2023-2024 academic year, and share information about the activities of the universities in various areas such as education, scientific research, testing and quality assurance, accreditation and ranking, community service, and other activities. Through the conference, the bloc members also introduced successful models and new initiatives from each university, enabling them to share, learn, and expand on creative and effective practices in various activities to apply them within their own institutions. The experiences gained from the conference will help universities continue to promote successful and effective activities, improve or propose new models and approaches to ensure that the Emulation Bloc’s activities are truly beneficial and contribute positively to the overall emulation movement of the city.

The conference reviewed the activities of the Emulation Bloc during the 2023-2024 academic year through a video presentation. According to the agreed-upon activity plan of the Emulation Bloc, in addition to cultural and sports activities, for the first time, professional and academic activities were proposed to be included in the plan in the form of seminars and discussions, which received enthusiastic support from the universities. Notable seminars included "International Publication Experience & Research Group Development" and "Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges for Higher Education." Additionally, physical activities were maintained to promote interaction, solidarity, and health among staff and employees through the Badminton Tournament for staff and employees of universities in Da Nang City. The collective activities of the Emulation Bloc during the 2023-2024 academic year were successfully organized with full, active, and responsible participation from the member universities, contributing to a lively atmosphere in the activities. This created a sense of connection, sharing, and support among the universities to jointly fulfill their tasks, contributing to the development of higher education and the economic and social development of the city.

During the discussion session, representatives from the universities within the Emulation Bloc proposed many suggestions and solutions to enhance the effectiveness of the Bloc’s activities in the 2024-2025 academic year, while also sharing successful models and initiatives in various fields. The representatives emphasized the importance of increasing community service to demonstrate the Bloc’s contribution to the economic and social development of Da Nang City, and of establishing a theme for the academic year to focus the Bloc's resources and create a highlight for the Bloc’s collective activities.

Ms. Do Thi Nguyet Minh, representing the city’s Emulation and Commendation Department, acknowledged the efforts and achievements of the universities in the Bloc during the past academic year, especially the successful experiences and effective activity models. Based on these achievements, the Emulation and Commendation Department urged the universities to continue leveraging their resources and enhancing activities in the 2024-2025 academic year, alongside the city in the mission of training high-quality human resources and fostering innovation.

The conference also introduced and voted on the Bloc Leader and Deputy Leader for the 2024-2025 academic year. Accordingly, the Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy was elected as the Bloc Leader, and the University of Education - University of Da Nang as the Deputy Leader of the University Emulation Bloc in Da Nang City for the 2024-2025 academic year.
