Online workshop "Developing green financial system to promote green economy in vietnam"

On the morning of 7/5, the University of Economics – the University of Danang cooperated with the University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi to organize an online national scientific conference entitled "Developing a green financial system to promote green economy in Vietnam”. This is a scientific activity of the national key science & technology program for the period 2016-2020: “Studying key scientific issues for socio-economic development ”(Code KX.01 / 16-20) by Assoc. Prof Tran Thi Thanh Tu - Dean of Finance - Banking Department - University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi is the project leader.


The seminar was attended by representatives of leaders, scientists, and experts from the University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, National Economics University, Foreign Trade University, and the University of Economics – the University of Danang, and managers in the field of finance - banking.

Hanoi delivered a welcome speech

 Assoc.Prof Nguyen Thi Anh Thu - Vice-Rector of the University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, said that Vietnam was a "green" country in the 20th century, but with socio-economic growth in the past few years, Vietnam has recently ranked first in Southeast Asia in terms of greenhouse gas emissions. This is not a small challenge in the process of building a sustainable economy with environmental protection. In an effort to change the color of the economy from "brown" to "green," the workshop is a forum for lecturers, scientists, policymakers and managers to discuss, analyze, and assess Vietnam's opportunities and challenges in developing a green financial system, thereby proposing solutions to promote the development of a green financial system in Vietnam.

Ph.D. Dang Tung Lam - Head of Finance Department - University of Economics - University of Danang, through the seminar "Developing green financial systems to promote green economy in Vietnam" affirmed that the workshop was fruitful developing cooperation between the University of Economics - Da Nang University and the University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi. We hope, together with partners, to organize more scientific forums to conclude linking scientists, experts with domestic and international economic groups, businesses, policymakers, contributing to national prosperity, and a responsible and competent scientific community in the area.

Presentation of Ph.D. Can Van Luc - BIDV Bank

The opening of the seminar presentation session is the topic of Ph.D. Can Van Luc - Director of BIDV Bank's Training School on "Situation of Vietnam financial market - Situation and Solutions". Dr. Luc said green finance is the general development trend of the world, especially in the current industrial revolution 4.0. In line with that trend, Vietnam has been actively participating and developing green financial products such as green shares, green credit and green bonds. Experts from BIDV also believe that the potential of green finance in Vietnam is still very large, so this is an opportunity for investors, policymakers to promote the development of the financial background. Besides the advantages, the development of green finance in Vietnam still faces many difficulties, based on that, the experts have proposed some solutions for policy makers, credit institutions as well as schools, research institutes.

Presentation "Green bonds, financial tools for the sustainable development of businesses"

Participating in the seminar with the presentation: "Green bonds, financial tools for the sustainable development of businesses", Assoc. Prof Nguyen Thi Minh Hue - Banking - Finance Institute - National Economics University said that Green bonds are a new tool, which has many advantages compared to ordinary bonds such as being held longer than ordinary bonds, improving people's awareness of social and environmental responsibility. In the coming time, the green bond market will be a new development trend, promoting advantages such as raising capital with national projects in the field of environment and green projects in localities, helping businesses in implementing renewable energy projects, investing in waste treatment, reducing emissions and production activities adversely affecting the environment, contributing to the development of green and sustainable growth of the nation.

Ph.D. Nguyen Hong Thuy - Faculty of Political Economics - University of Economics - Vietnam National University, 

Hanoi proposes a set of indicators to evaluate the development results of the green financial system.

In terms of the role of the rating set for transmitter development of a green financial system, Ph.D. Nguyen Hong Thuy - Faculty of Political Economics - University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi contributes to substantially assess the results of sustainable development, green growth, towards piloting the development of a green economy model, green industry, green urban, green rural future. Dr. Nguyen Hong Thuy also gave a number of approaches and methods to develop indicator sets, suggest appropriate indicators to assess the development of the green financial system in Vietnam.

The seminar took place vigorously with many interesting topics on the development of the private economy and social enterprises in Vietnam such as policies, solutions for forming and developing the private economy and social enterprises, regional economic development in Vietnam. The scientists also discussed and found many solutions to promote the development of industry clusters as well as models and forms for developing private economic links. In the context of the booming technology revolution 4.0 and the period of global integration, experts also raised the issue of promoting business linkages to develop the private economy through typical examples of a number of private economic models in a number of countries in the region and lessons learned for Vietnamese managers.

In addition, the contributions and opinions of experts and scientists will be organized by the organizing committee and the management board of the state-level scientific subject. " Studying key scientific issues for socio-economic development ”(code number KX.01 / 16-20) absorbed into distilled reports sent to state management agencies, policymakers and enterprises for obtaining policies to promote the development of green finance in Vietnam.
