Associate Professor Dr. Dang Tung Lam, Head of the Finance Department, is participating in a scholar exchange program at a leading US university in the field of Business.

During his participation in the Scholar Exchange Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Tung Lam will conduct two studies: (1) The impact of carbon emissions on the adjustment of the target capital structure of enterprises, and (2) The impact of mandatory disclosure of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities on the cost of equity capital. His first study investigates whether carbon emissions affect the speed of adjustment of the target capital structure of enterprises; Simultaneously, the study examines whether the risk of financial distress and investor interest in ESG are mechanisms that directly influence the adjustment of dynamic capital structure.

Professor Lam's second study explores the impact of mandatory ESG disclosure on the cost of equity capital, and identifies information asymmetry and investor interest in ESG as transmission mechanisms. Through these studies, Professor Lam aims to clarify the relationship between sustainable operating practices and corporate financial decisions, providing scientific arguments to help shape policies and regulations aimed at achieving sustainable development goals.
