SEMINAR “INTERNATIONAL PUBLICATIONS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH GROUPS”

On December 29, the University of Economics – The University of Danang was honored to host, for the first time, a seminar with the participation of lecturers from 11 universities belonging to the emulation cluster in Da Nang City, under the theme “International Publications and the Development of Scientific Research Groups.”

Speaking at the opening session, Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Hanh, Vice Rector of the University of Economics – The University of Danang and Head of the Emulation Cluster of Universities in Da Nang City, stated that the seminar was organized with the aim of sharing experiences and useful information from lecturers, especially those who have successfully published in prestigious international journals, served as principal investigators of national-level research projects, and effectively developed scientific research groups.

This was also an opportunity for university leaders and faculty members in charge of research activities within the cluster to exchange views and share policies and best practices in promoting scientific research activities in line with current regulations and institutional characteristics.

The seminar was successfully conducted with three presentations by experienced scholars who have achieved significant results in prestigious international publications, with numerous studies published in international journals. Among them, the presentation delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dang Tung Lam, Head of the Faculty of Finance, University of Economics – The University of Danang, focused on a particularly important and challenging topic: “Experiences in Prestigious International Publishing and Writing Research Funding Proposals.”

Assoc. Prof. Dang Tung Lam is a scholar with extensive experience in high-quality international publications, with many research outputs published in the world’s top 1% journals, and is also a member of the Scientific Council for Economics of the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED).

In his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dang Tung Lam shared lessons learned from the difficulties he had encountered, as well as useful ideas and techniques for writing research manuscripts. In addition, he emphasized that writing research funding proposals is an indispensable skill in the research journey. Funding proposals are not only opportunities to seek necessary resources but also occasions to present research ideas persuasively, thereby increasing the likelihood of project success and opening up new opportunities.

With three core missions - teaching, scientific research, and community service - this topic has attracted significant attention from higher education institutions and faculty members. In particular, amid profound changes in the research landscape, with increasingly stringent standards for scientific publications, researchers are required not only to generate new knowledge and discoveries but also to uphold higher levels of research integrity and contribute more meaningfully to community development.

These demands require lecturers, in order to have their work accepted, especially by prestigious journals and publishers or to be entrusted with scientific research projects, not only to continuously update and deepen their disciplinary knowledge, but also to possess the necessary skills, strategies, and information related to submitting research for publication and approval.
For educational institutions, university leadership must adopt determined policies to support international publications, build research groups, and gradually develop strong research teams composed of outstanding and leading scholars who serve as the core for both academic and applied research. This, in turn, contributes to improving institutional rankings and academic reputation.
