Career Opportunities in Tourism Management

Tourism Management Specialisation (K3)

Upon successful completion of the Tourism Management specialisation, graduates are able to pursue a wide range of professional opportunities within the tourism industry, including:

  1. Applying for operational and entry-level professional positions in tourism-related enterprises, particularly in customer-facing departments, such as tour programme design staff, tour sales consultants, and tour operations coordinators within tour operator; front office staff, housekeeping staff, and food and beverage service staff within accommodation establishments; service staff in tourism-oriented restaurants; and event organisation staff. Graduates may also work in functional departments such as Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, and Finance across these types of enterprises.
  2. Undertaking staff roles within departments or units responsible for hotel management, travel management, and tourism promotion centres under tourism-related government or public-sector agencies.
  3. Working in education, training, and research institutions specialising in tourism business and management.

After gaining professional experience in staff-level positions, graduates may progress to supervisory and team leader roles in direct service operations, advance to deputy or head positions within functional departments, pursue senior management roles within tourism enterprises, or establish and manage their own travel and tourism businesses.

 

Event Management Specialisation (K26)

Graduates of the Event Management specialisation are equipped to pursue professional careers in event-related organisations and tourism-supporting enterprises, including:

  1. Applying for positions within event management companies serving the tourism sector, as well as event-related units within organisations and enterprises, such as event officers, event coordination staff, event marketing specialists, sponsorship and partnership development specialists, event designers, and event production staff. Graduates may also work in functional departments such as Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, and Finance within tourism-oriented event organisations.
  2. Undertaking staff roles within Tourism Promotion Centres.
  3. Working in education, training, and research institutions specialising in event management.

Following a period of professional experience at staff level, graduates may advance to supervisory or team leader roles, assume deputy or managerial positions within departments, progress toward senior leadership roles within organisational structures, or pursue entrepreneurial pathways by establishing and managing their own tourism or event-related enterprises.
