The 8th International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICOAF 2023): Promoting a Dynamic Environment for Interdisciplinary Exchange

On the morning of June 30, 2023, the 8th International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICOAF 2023) officially commenced at the Grand Tourane Hotel in Da Nang. The conference was jointly organized by the University of Economics, Danang University in collaboration with the Global Finance Research Institute at the University of New South Wales (Australia), Aston University (United Kingdom), Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (Malaysia), as well as contributions from other universities such as University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, National Economics University, University of Economics and Business - Vietnam National University Hanoi, University of Economics and Law, Vietnam Banking Academy, and many other organizations. The conference was honored to be accompanied by sponsors such as VINIF - Vingroup Innovation Foundation and CPA Australia - Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City.

This year's conference attracted nearly 100 experts and scientists from domestic and international universities, especially with the participation of two keynote speakers: Prof. Bohui ZHANG from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (China), and Assoc. Prof. Ambrus Kecskés from York University (Canada). The conference aimed to gather researchers, students, and scholars to exchange experiences, share new ideas, and present research findings in the fields of Accounting and Finance, as well as Economics and Business. The attending speakers not only discussed the practical challenges faced in Vietnam but also global challenges encountered worldwide.

The conference attracted a large number of scholars from both domestic and international institutions.

In her opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh - Vice Rector of the University of Economics, Danang University, stated that ICOAF-2023 is an academic event that promotes a dynamic environment for interdisciplinary exchange, knowledge sharing, and research collaboration. It also enhances research cooperation and publication opportunities with international partners, fosters innovation, and generates impactful research results to enhance the reputation of the university in the global academic community. During the plenary session, delegates listened and discussed reports and scientific papers in the field of finance and accounting, including the report titled "Producing AI Innovation: Does It Affect Firm Value and How?" by Assoc. Prof. Ambrus Kecskés (York University, Canada).

There were 36 selected research papers presented at the conference, covering various topics related to accounting and finance. The parallel sessions were lively, gathering dedicated experts and passionate scholars who updated and developed timely and practical knowledge in the fields of finance and accounting in Vietnam as well as globally.

Hot topics in accounting and finance were extensively discussed during the parallel sessions.

Within the framework of ICOAF-2023, the summer conference on Economics, Business, and Public Policy by VIAN was also organized on the same day, with the participation of nearly 40 members from three universities and international experts. The main objective of the conference was to empower faculty members with the necessary tools and resources to enhance research capabilities and make significant contributions to knowledge advancement in the respective fields. It also aimed to equip lecturers with advanced research skills, promote collaboration, and foster a culture of academic excellence. The summer conference on Economics, Business, and Public Policy will have a long-term impact on participating faculty members and reputable universities. The research capacity of faculty members will be enhanced, positioning the university as a prominent research organization on a global scale.

Numerous ideas about accounting and finance were discussed and deliberated.

The success of ICOAF-2023 once again reaffirms the credibility and academic excellence of the University of Economics, Danang University as a destination for national and international scientific conferences. It serves as a foundation for nurturing a global network of researchers in the field of Accounting and Finance in Vietnam and strengthens research collaboration in the field. At the same time, the conference provides a great opportunity for experts, scientists, and faculty members from domestic and international universities to share academic ideas and receive scientific feedback, thereby increasing the chances of their papers being accepted for publication in ISI and SCOPUS-indexed journals.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh presented the Best Paper Award to the author team Mieszko Mazur (ESSCA School of Management) and Efstathios Polyzos (Zayed University) for their paper titled "The financial impact of washtrading in NFT markets: An algorithmic approach."

With the goal of building a research-oriented university, the University of Economics - Danang University, together with its partner institutions, strives to make the annual ICOAF conference in 2023 one of the largest specialized conferences in Accounting and Finance in the Southeast Asia region.
