The national scientific conference “Promoting Cross-Border E-Commerce 2025” concludes successfully

On the morning of October 24, 2025, the National Scientific Conference “Promoting Cross-Border E-Commerce 2025” was successfully held at the University of Economics - University of Da Nang (DUE). The Conference was co-organized by the University of Economics - University of Da Nang and the Vietnam E-Commerce Association (VECOM), with the participation of the University of Economics - University of Hue and the support of leading global digital commerce platforms such as Google, Amazon, and Shopee.

Delivering the opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice Rector of the University, stated: “The Conference aims to assess the current status, potential, opportunities, and challenges of cross-border e-commerce in Vietnam; share international experiences; identify key policy, legal, and human resource barriers; and propose feasible solutions to promote online exports and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises in the digital era".

This year’s Conference received 78 scientific papers from researchers, experts, and enterprises nationwide. Following a rigorous peer-review process, 58 papers were accepted for publication in the Conference Proceedings with an ISBN, of which 43 papers were selected for on-site presentation. Notably, 65 authors and co-authors attended the Conference in person at the University of Economics to present and exchange research findings.

The scale and academic quality of the Conference underscored the strong interest of the scientific and business communities in cross-border e-commerce, while reflecting the close linkage between research - policy - business practice. At the Conference, participants listened to the following keynote reports:

- Keynote Report: “Vietnam’s B2C Cross-Border E-Commerce Market Size in 2024” presented by Ms. Lai Viet Anh, Deputy Director General, Department of E-Commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade.

- Presentation: “Unlocking Vietnam’s Export Potential through E-Commerce with Amazon Global Selling” by Mr. Tran Xuan Thuy, Southern Region Director, Amazon Global Selling.

 - Presentation: “Google’s Solutions and Tools Supporting Online Exports” by Mr. Brandon Thanh Do, Market Development Director, Google Southeast Asia & Australia.

- Presentation: “The ASEAN Market: A Growth Driver for Online Exports of Vietnamese Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises” by Mr. Phan Manh Ha, Director of External Relations, Shopee Vietnam.

Keynote speakers delivering presentations at the Conference

In addition to keynote sessions, the Conference featured parallel thematic sessions focusing on emerging research and application trends in cross-border e-commerce, logistics, digital marketing, and global supply chain management. Many papers proposed concrete models and solutions to enhance digital capabilities for Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

At the conclusion of the Conference, the Organizing Committee presented the Best Paper Awards to outstanding research works:

- “Customer Care Ecosystem in Cross-Border B2B E-Commerce: The Case of Alibaba.com and Implications for Vietnamese Enterprises” by Nguyen Xuan Hai Yen, FPT University.

- “Logistics and SME Support in Cross-Border E-Commerce: International Experience and Lessons for Vietnam” by the research team of Nguyen Thi Minh Tam, Vo Le Hoang Quan, Nguyen Trinh Nhu Y, Mai Ngoc Tan Hoai, Pham Thi Hoang Duyen, and Vo Thi Tuong Vy from the University of Economics – University of Da Nang.

The Conference served as an open academic forum where researchers, policymakers, and enterprises jointly discussed advanced policies, technologies, and business models, contributing valuable scientific evidence toward improving the legal framework for e-commerce and digital trade in the coming period.
