The signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement with Four Points by Sheraton Danang Hotel: learning and working opportunities for students in international corporations

The University of Economics, University of Da Nang, and Four Points by Sheraton Danang Hotel have signed a training cooperation agreement to create employment opportunities for students during their studies at the university on the morning of June 21.

Attendees at the working session included Mr. Stefano Maccagno, General Manager of Four Points by Sheraton Danang Hotel, along with representatives from various departments. Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Huy, Vice Rector of the university, attended alongside representatives from the Faculty of Tourism, the Department of Science and International Cooperation, the Training Department, and lecturers.

Mr. Stefano Maccagno stated that he has long desired to implement a long-term cooperation program with the University of Economics, Da Nang University. Currently, the Vietnamese tourism market is on the path to recovery, as evidenced by the increasing number of international and domestic flights. Although still in the recovery phase, the number of Marriott Group hotels in Vietnam and the region continues to grow from the current 16 to more than 30 hotels in the next 7 years. He believes that this is the golden opportunity for young people to prepare themselves to meet the future workforce demands in the tourism industry of Da Nang and Vietnam as a whole.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Huy affirmed that this is a significant and important opportunity in the cooperation between the university and international businesses. This cooperation will provide students at the University of Economics, Da Nang University with practical experiences and early exposure to a multinational and multicultural work environment. It will enable them to accumulate professional knowledge, language skills, and build self-confidence.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Huy hopes that students will gain practical experiences from the business.

The collaboration between the two parties in implementing the training program, under the specific mechanism of the Hotel Management major, undergraduate level, regular system, aims to help students familiarize themselves with international standards in hotel services, enhance their readiness to work in a professional environment, and contribute high-quality human resources to the hospitality and tourism industry in the Central Highlands and Central regions. It also aims to develop multidimensional and sustainable cooperation between the University of Economics and Marriott Group.

The two parties signed a Memorandum of Cooperation

The two sides cooperate in implementing training within the framework of the training program according to the university-specific mechanism, the Hotel Management major of the University of Economics, the University of Danang, the regular system with the general principles: Each year, recruiting 01 class with a minimum of 30 students, a maximum of 45 students. This class will be called the Hotel Administration class in collaboration with Four Points by Sheraton Danang - managed by Marriott Corporation. Students who are admitted to the Hospitality Management program of the University of Economics, University of Danang will be entitled to enroll in the Hospitality Management class in collaboration with Four Points by Sheraton Danang Hotel - managed by Marriott Corporation with the principle of top-down selection according to English ability.

The partnership between DUE and Four Points by Sheraton Da Nang Hotel will create many study and work opportunities for students.

The two parties will collaborate in implementing the training program for the Hotel Management major, in coordination with Four Points by Sheraton Danang Hotel managed by Marriott Group. Specifically, they will conduct teaching and learning activities for the specialized courses of the Hotel Management major in coordination with Marriott Group. In addition to the specialized courses, they will also provide other subjects within the curriculum. Moreover, Four Points by Sheraton Danang Hotel will support living expenses for students in the Hotel Management classes throughout their study period at the hotel. Each year, Four Points by Sheraton Danang Hotel will grant three scholarships for each training course. The program aims to support the implementation of the training program for 3.5 years, providing early employment opportunities for students and giving priority to recruiting students as full-time employees after graduation.

It is hoped that upon completing this training program, DUE students will become future ambassadors of Vietnamese tourism, bringing their hospitality closer to international tourists.
