Danang Newspaper: Helping mountainous people with developing tourism

By designing the website, drawing a map of instructions, making videos and a manual for tourists when they come to Nam Giang district (Quang Nam province), a group of volunteer students from the University of Economics – The University of Danang has contributed to helping localities to promote destinations to develop tourism.

For nearly 1 month, students in Business Administration, Political Economy, International Business, Tourism have explored, researched and perfected tourism products, publications and handed over to the local promotion, publication.

Student Phuong Hong Bao (Faculty of Political Economics) in charge of of map -making and travelling notebooks, said: "For information, the destination is full for the map, we assign each other to examine meticulous observation of terrain as well as asking each local people. Having this map, tourists or people who want to learn and study about Nam Giang can easily find attractive routes and places such as: weaving village, Grang waterfall, Thanh river...

Besides, the map also instructs tourists about the places where they can stop to rest or the location with gas stations, cafes, car repair centers, District Administration Center, Health Station, ATM ... when having a problem or having a need ”. In addition, the travelling handbook also provides images and brief information about Nam Giang culture, location and cuisine; including a schedule of suggested 2-day-1-night tours and essential contact information such as motels, cafes, tour service leases, experience guides and indigenous people...

As students living in the city, Bao and volunteers, the survey trips, making maps as well as making notebooks encountered many difficulties. The new drawing and design are done for the first time but still create eye-catching handbooks and detailed maps.

Student Nguyen Thi Thanh Thanh (Faculty of Tourism) shared: “Due to the mountainous terrain, the survey is remote and dangerous. Moreover, people go to work all the time so that finding them and asking for information about destinations  met many difficulties. Besides, when approaching the tourism map, we do not have the original map of Nam Giang district, so we have to do our own research based on the preliminary planning map supported by the district. Difficult as it is but when we complete the work, everyone is happy and excited. Bao, Thanh and the whole group said that during this survey, the team explored Bung River hydroelectric reservoir as the ideal place for tourists but not yet exploited. Therefore, the proposed group of Nam Giang district in the next time to rebuild the ferry terminal and safety items to develop tourist destinations here. As a direct member of Nam Giang tourism site, Lam Hoang Thang (International Business Department) is very happy to complete the product and hand it over to the local for use. Thang said: “In order to have beautiful images of Nam Giang, we spent many days eating together and staying with people to shoot and capture the destination as well as learn the cultural features here such as: new buffalo and rice stabbing festival; The specialties of people in mountainous areas such as Ta Vat wine, Buffalo croissant, and lamella ... The most beautiful and quintessential things of Nam Giang, we all shoot and take great photos to form a website. for everyone to look at Nam Giang right away ”.

Thang also said that the website of the group made a breath of youth with the desire to spread the best images of Nam Giang to the community, so Nam Giang became more and more popular. In addition to travel publications and videos, the group also conducts research and proposals on potential local destinations in the hope of completing more local construction, restoration and exploitation plans. The group also wishes that after the process of maintenance, renovation, restoration and construction, tourist sites will meet the needs of tourists, create jobs in place for people in order to develop local tourism and remain sustainable development. Mr. Le Dinh Quang Phuc, Secretary of the University of Economics – The University of Danang, said: “This is a product that shows the creativity of the school youth. The work of the students not only helps local mountainous areas have more publications, products for tourism but also gives them the opportunity to experience, learn and contribute, express themselves.
