Teachers and students of University of Economics joyfully celeberate the new 2018 – 2019 Academic year

On the morning of 05/09/20018, University of Economics – The University of Danang held their annual opening ceremony, thus signifying that the official to start to the 2018 – 2019 academic year has begun. During which, the University acknowledged the presence of Assoc. Prof. Ngo Van Duong – Vice Director of The University of Danang, Ph.D. Nguyen Duc Hung – Chairman of Labor Union of the University of Danang, the presentative of agencies, enterprises, the presentative of Military Zone 5’s Military Training Centre, the Association of Former Students – scholarship sponsor, the Board of director of University of Economics, heads of Faculties, Departments, Centers and many staff, lecturers, and students of the University.
In his celebratory opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Manh Toan – Principle of University of Economics summarized the achievements of UE-UD during the academic year 2017 – 2018, and highlighted the university's objectives for the upcoming 2018 – 2019 year. Thanks to the efforts of staff and students from UE-UD, and their focus on democratic leadership, solidarity, knowledge, and high responsibility, the previous 2017-2018 academic year was one of remarkable success and accomplishment for UE-UD’s goals. Resultantly, UE-UD was honored to be one of the three leading branches of the University of Danang to be nominated for a Certificate of Commendation from the Minister of Ministry of Education and Training. The Da Nang University of Economics' continued focus on the improvement of the quality of education provided for students was exemplified in the creation of a co-operative program with the community of enterprises in applying special training mechanism for Tourism and Information Technology Studies. However, the most significant stride of UE-UD in the past academic year was the establishment of the Faculty of E-Commerce and the renamed Faculty of Commerce to the Faculty of International Business. The admission campaign in 2018 was held successfully, with a high quality of new entries, compared to the entire country. The new students were proud and delighted to be parts of the UE-UD. Additionally, there were many successes in scientific research and international cooperative projects across campus, such as an impressive forty-three scientific research papers , including three State-level research papers and twelve Ministry-level research papers. Overall, in 2017 – 2018 year, UE-UD also saw an increase in the number of research articles in ISI, Scopus-categorized magazines and other reputable magazines, enhancing the University’s position in the scientific research field. Likewise, 4 national and 4 international conferences were held by the University of Danang in co-operation with other partners, thus creating a comprehensive forum for worldwide scientists to share their knowledge.
In the new academic year 2018 – 2019, UE-UD is determined to accomplish the AUN quality assessment for 5 training programs. In addition, environmental studies will be enhanced through applying active teaching method and increasing extracurricular activities, soft skills, social and career orientation activities. In the upcoming year, the University will continue to focus on the development of facilities, purchasing updated devices and equipment for teaching and learning activities, as well as residence programs for teachers and students. Such projects include, the building of a new dormitory for Lao students, a new marketing lab, and tourism lab. During the ceremony, the Principle suggested that all staff, lecturers and students continue to place efforts to carry out successfully the Resolution of 8th University of Economics’ Congress of The Communist Party of Vietnam: creating an advanced study environment, gradually confirm the University’s position in the Central – Central Highlands and in the whole country, aiming to make UE-UD a regionally-ranked research institution.
Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Manh Toan congratulated nearly 44K new students on being accepted into the University of Economics. He also hoped that all students would be proud and try their best at studying and improving themselves, following the achievements of former students to enhance their own abilities and secure their own future success.
In his speech to celebrate with teachers and students of the University of Economics, Assoc. Prof. Ngo Van Duong recognized the achievements that the UE-UD already acquired in the past year. The Board of Director of The University of Danang has strong belief that both teachers and students of the University of Economics will bring into practice the learnings from training activities, scientific research, and international cooperation so that the objectives of the 2018 – 2019 academic year, will help set the UD-UE on a path towards becoming a reputable educational institution that is well known throughout Vietnam and worldwide.
In support students entering the new academic year, several enterprises have offered scholarships for UD-UE students, totaling around a hundred million VND . In return, Assoc. Prof. Dao Huu Hoa presented the Benefactors with flowers and certificates for supporting the University and its quest to provide continued encouragement in the learning process..
In order to praise new students with outstanding achievements in the past entrance examination, the University also awarded certificates and scholarships for 19 students who achieved the highest scores on the admission exam; three of the students with high achievements took part in short exchange-program at international universities. Finally, eleven scholarships for disadvantage students and 4 scholarships from the Fund of departed Prof. Takahashi were also awarded.
On behalf of the 44K students, Dang Thi My Hanh – the student with highest score on the admission exam into UE-UD, expressed her feelings in the first days at University of Economics. She reminded students that determination to study hard, developing moral character and thirst for knowledge are they keys for successfully completing courses at at University of Economics – the University of Danang.
The ceremony closed with a joyful tone that emphasized pride, and the expectation for a new academic year with new objectives. These are also the motivation for the staffs, teachers, and students of the University of Economics altogether contribute to new successes and new landmarks, positioning the reputation of a leading economics studies university in Vietnam.
